What consumers expect of a FF-title

Personally I think Toryama of X-2, Final Fantasy my life as a King "fame" is just trying too hard to emulate his favorite genre (fp shooters) in a completely wrong format or even medium. I don't think the situation will be helped by Nomura's versus that seems like a KH -disney characters. SE has never handled 3d action particulary well but they're trying their hardest to avoid playing to their strenghts.

Customers expect Nostalgy injected directly into a game. This can be seen behind any and all opinions regarding where the franchise should be headed.

Through countless different ways to state the same thing, fans have come up with no other approach but to hide the true meaning behind their opinions in the most creative of ways.

Everything they have and will ever say can be summed up in one word: nostalgy. Sometimes with added flavor of "b'awww" and "in my day".

The sad thing is that FFXIII wasn't even polished from the perspective of how it was built - even as a linear game with a less than awesome combat. Creating cool characters, and then destroying them within seconds made no sense; turning the summon system into an orgasmic experience for Vanille was, in my opinion, incredibly offputting, and having a story that contradicted itself in the most major of ways really hurt the game. With that said I actually liked it better than 12, which I thought was a mess; mostly from having a pathetic character cast and a very nonchalant story.

FF14 damaged the game worse than FF13, however, and it still is - which is why I think it's incredible that they're charging subscription fees for the game when the numbers are as small as they are, and confidence in Square is so continuously low. There's no trust in their products, and now players have no way to alleviate that mistrust for what is going to be nearly a year, or more likely, over a year.

I hope those of you who are going to stay with the game are going to have an acceptable playing experience, because I worry it's just going to be a ghost town.

one thing, a spin of usually does have a tie to the original cast. King of the hill>beavis and butthead, joey>friends, clevland>family guy.

I am currently, I think I shouldn't mention that it scored perfect scores across 2 major magazines, not to mention it's a fair bit too RPG like now which I know won't be recieved well once it hits western shores, since a lot of gamers nowadays doesn't like the classic type of RPG.

The western media has been extremely excited about it, and I know I am.

That would be your opinion of course, I like that he wasnt afraid to stick with traditional turn based games. Of course this dosen't include the Last Story which is incredible as well.
