What Theodric said, if it was confined to a single thread it would be much better. They wouldn't have to go searching through so many different threads because each person thinks their opinion is unique and deserves its own thread.


Another note, i really do think the west's opinion is the minority.

I decided to click around and went to the other forum sections for the other countries. And boy is it the complete opposite. Nobody is angry, nobody is barely discussing it, and if it is brought up they are friendly. Using google chrome to translate the page, i could get a very rough understanding of what they were saying, and i didn't see any hostility at all. It really makes you wonder why it is such a big deal here, but nowhere else in the world. Granted i didn't go out searching everywhere, but from the quick glances i saw there was no drama.

I'm not going to go to Japan and tell them how they should voice their opinions.

The west's (NA & EU) active playerbase is comparable and greater than JPs. So I don't agree that you have the correct data to say such a thing as the west is a minority.

They're apt terms to describe the backlash when so many of these threads are being made. Keep the feedback to a single, constructive thread and ensure that it remains active and visible.

You don't need to bring it up every five minutes across as many threads as possible.

SE has a track record of not paying attention to the NA community unless the forums are exploding.

I understand entirely what you mean, but to overgeneralize entire countries based on anecdotal experiences ?
This is not an official debate forum, people are not required to be reasonable nor rational, yet I have seen plenty who are reasonable and rational and those who are irrational have mostly left the scene. If we continue to decry everyone of being irrational, unreasonable, and violent we won't be getting anywhere fast in the name of reasonableness regardless of viewpoints.

That's a fair way to look at it. Maybe i am overgeneralizing, then again its hard not to when you look at social media today. There have been some reasonable responses, although the unreasonable definitely stand out more.

That being said, things have calmed to small degree, not enough since these threads are still popping up all day long.

Also the fact that information has come out regarding the reason why male viera or female ronso weren't a thing. And yet we still get threads from misinformed people giving suggestions or whatever. Its pointless.

The glaring thing about that "poll result" ...

It wasn't 70% requesting Viera. It wasn't even a choice that implied only Viera. It was 24.9-31%, depending on region, choosing "Mamalian demi-beastmen", for which an example was "a rabbit-eared race such as the Viera from FFXII, etc.".

The only choice with less than a 10% response, for all regions, was "Mamallian beastmen (ex.) wolfmen, gnolls, etc.), followed closely by reptilian races (beastmen and demi-beastmen)

I found this line of great interest:

Ah. My mistake. I meant in over 70% of the regions. Regardless, it still won; and in some places by a good margin. Viera was the only race listed on that option. You're just grasping at straws here.

And of course, his actions were to give us a dragon race (not mammalian), and a beastman race (not cute). You also weren't on the forums. Viera as a playable race has been a popular topic since beta. The beta forums were wiped out in 2011ish, though.

That seems to be an innate issue with some individuals. Not enough people nowadays take a day or two before they decide to express their concerns, which isn't entirely a bad thing if they're capable of doing it in a respectable manner in the first place. As for the people who came rushing in with some sort of vendetta against the developers, those are the people who really need to think before they speak. Hell, I'm supposed to be on the same side as some of these people but I find it distasteful to associate myself with people who are throwing around the "sexist" or "homophobic" tags like they're candy. More people need to understand we can't get what we want whenever we want it. Stay civil, express your support for adding them in a civil manner, and move on and hope for the best. That's what I've done, and its saved me a lot of stress.
