As that thread shows, not only was this an issue before, but it was fixed and addressed after player concern, or what some keep calling "whining" or "entitlement"

So to those who think "complaining" and "whining" wont do anything why exactly do you think we currently have male miqotes, female highlanders and female roegadyn??

Do you see how frustrating it is to see the same person and team who listened to these concerns and fixed an issue so blatantly repeat the problem?

If you don't want male Viera and female Hrothgar that's perfectly ok. But don't go around saying those who do are entitled and should just be quiet bc nothing's going to change when the history of this game we all love shows us that this team can, does and will listen to its playerbase.

Do you see and acknowledge that when these avatars were added, there was far less content in the game than we have currently? Available resources do not grow as the game does. In fact, the available resources often decrease due to taking on other projects, vacations, sick leave, maternity leave, among other factors.

Of course it is ok to want male Viera and female Hrothgar, and it is perfectly acceptable to voice those desires and being supportive of it here. However, chastising the devs, threats of unsubbing, or otherwise failing to even understand the time and work the devs put into the game is where and when the whining and sense of entitlement comes out. It shows a large degree of being unappreciative and thinking the stars revolve around you. It is easily discernable between the two mindsets.

A lot of this could have been avoided if the mods made an official thread to speak about it.

For example, in WoW when there was the big controversy over classic WoW and private servers they made an official thread. And all posts regarding the subject were to be posted there. If they weren't, they would just be deleted.

There's too much bloat, everyone makes their own threads and then they die off, and their voices go unheard.

But if there was one massive thread, then everyone could be heard since its confined to one thread.

Couldn't agree more with your last two bits. I've seen this kinda thing in forums for other games as well. Usually popular requests get filtered to one thread. Don't know much about how Square Enix etc. usually handle this sorta stuff but it would've been a lot easier had a designated thread been made.

From what I gather, people have been banned for stepping too far out of line. It's simply a matter of ensuring that the more unreasonable and aggressive posts are flagged appropriately.

Oh I know... but we don't need 2 zillion threads on the same topic. There should be an official one or in lieu of that they should be consolidated into one or few depending on the topic. Some threads do get deleted and some folks do get banned but from a housekeeping perspective that is just something that isn't done here.

Did you know male viera have been requested since pre-2.0? When 1.x shutdown they sent out a poll asking us what new race we wanted. SE themselves asked if we wanted Viera. It won with over 70% of the votes. SE has had over 7 years to make the viera race. It's not our fault they waited until now.

They're apt terms to describe the backlash when so many of these threads are being made. Keep the feedback to a single, constructive thread and ensure that it remains active and visible.

Perhaps if we had an SE mod or member actually create an Official Megathread we could do that, but that would require community engagement. On the US forum. Where they very rarely go.

I mean, there is nothing stopping us from outright labeling a thread [MEGATHREAD] New Races Blah blah. Sure we can't sticky it... but considering that its been almost a week since this stuff hit the fan I'm sure the popularity alone will keep it page 1.

I mean someone went of their way to make 2 Threads. One for Viera and one for... Hth...er Ronso. He could very well have made a general thread and had his like system in posts 1 and 2! Then we have the Genderlock thread, which could have been the mega thread if it wasn't so limited in its title. Then again I suppose I've been away from the WoW forum for too long... I forget that even a Megathread won't stop others from posting their own, but really its up to us to enforce these sort of things. Ignore the extra ones and enforce activity in the main one.
