Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

How come when it comes to the lore, it doesn't work when they say only female Viera are only seen? When the lore states that no one has ever seen the male Viera, it's nonsense and just an excuse. But when the lore says they look the same until the age of 13, they're suddenly destined to be twinky, feminine boys? You can't pick and choose which pieces of the lore to follow to fit your agendas.

Saying they're rarely seen doesn't contradict them being playable given that the only playable character that matters to the canon is the one You're playing. Having the WoL be a male Viera will still constitute as them rarely being seen because it's still just the one.

So he makes lore but again, because it doesn't fit your narrative, there are even more excuses and reasons as to why this new lore for his game is in place. But any other lore can be changed willy nilly, that's fine. As long as it suits your needs. Sheesh I can't with you guys sometimes.

I think you are being uncharitable in your response. Although it is established male viera stay hidden, there are plenty of ways the story can lead to a male viera showing up. Viera biology is established as well, but that is one thing that cannot be changed.

I'm pretty sure part of the reason Yoshi P said that at fanfest is because of the limited resources and time in creating male viera. Furthermore, that bit of the lore can change due to the progression of the story, and the fact that the WoL is a unique person. However, the lore on viera's biology cannot be changed any longer.

It was more that Hrothgar was the already planned race but since people had been so desperate for Viera especially with Fran showing up, they decided they should add it. Hence the choice between either the female viera, or female hrothgar according to that interview. At the race's conception, males weren't even on the table. Will they stay locked? Doubtful, but I don't see them being added till mid Shadowbringers, or even until 6.0.

I do not believe they decided to add viera between the time Fran appeared and now. That time frame seems too short to develop something like a race. I believe they decided to add viera the same time they were thinking of adding hrothgar. Of course, for sure they wanted to add hrothgar, but the problem was whether they should add female hrothgar, or female viera. They knew players were requesting viera for a long time, so they scrapped female hrothgar.

I do agree with you that hrothgar was the race SE really wanted to add, but viera and hrothgar were most likely talked about and planned near the same time.

Yoshida actually said that they considered males but there were some problems ("Since we didn't see them earlier, it's up to our fantasy. How should we represent them? Elezens with Miqo'te faces, maybe..?") and in comparison with Ronsos, who were decided to be released anyway (and had full representation in FF10 already), it was more serious amount of work. And since working on two full races in one expansion is... just "no", splitting things in the way how they did it was more reasonable.

And this all probably works in our favor, since we'll probably get male viera and female hrothgar in the future. If we had only gotten one race with both genders, we may have never gotten anything after that.

Oh I know, it was stated in the interview that is basically what it was. The mention of Fran was that her showing up caused even more of a frenzy for them, which is probably why they got shown first at Paris since they had to have models ready for Fran hence they held Hrothgar back to do them first, my bad on the unclear description. Again, come likely 6.0 the other halves of the races will be added so people just need to bide their time and let the devs do their thing really.

Its obvious hrothgar took a huge amount of time and they are still getting adjustments ,apparently they are bigger than Roes which is pretty insane especially since Male Roe gear is pretty troublesome to work with and seems wont share same model with Hrothgars slimer waiste and more defined legs.
If they went with male and female hrothgar team probably felt they wouldn't be able to finish this race in time for ShB so went with Viera since the demand is there,concept is done,basically just modeling with frans asset from ff12 remaster ,making sure gear fits,animations and emotes.
Considering there is pretty much nothing on female hrothgar and male veira (besides a couple concept sketches) its understandable why Devs pulled this move even with stigma on gender lock races.

Male viera and Female Hrothgar are gonna take alot of work,time and money, I dont like gender lock but i also respect devs decision
Doesn't mean we cant prove to the devs that male viera and Female hrothgar are worth there time.

Oooh, that would be a really nice body for male viera. I'd love for them them to be fit, but slender and attractive, like their female counterparts. I do really like the idea of smaller/cuter males compared to females, but I am 100% willing to settle for androgynous and equal. Though for me the faces are more important than the body, and I'd also adore those to be androgynous/pretty boy as well. Pretty boys are a staple of the final fantasy series.

That would then be vary much the same the fan artist and Miqo'te have.
