Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

As a consistent player for the last 5 years I am going out of my way to post on the official forums today to express my disappointment that both new races are gender-locked. The lore explanation is flimsy considering that male Miqote are playable. At the end of the day FF XIV is not Ivalice and even if it was Square Enix can make the lore whatever Square Enix wants it to be. In the very least female Hroth/Ronso being excluded as a justification for the Viera excuse is aggravating. Female characters should have more options than the same "pretty girl" choice and introducing a bestial tribe would have been the best way to start mitigating the female limitations present in the game. Male characters should also have the ability to be Viera males if they so choose. Male Viera possibly being more feminine or smaller does not negate their existence or validity as an avatar. As the WoL/WoD the player should be free to choose which race or gender best represents what they want to be in-game. Gender-locking creates a lose/lose situation where the player base is needlessly limited and where Square Enix instills disappointment.

Please reconsider gender-locking the new races. It feels bad that the last Fan Fest before a major expansion comprised of so much disappointment. This feels like a step back into 1.0. Please fix this mistake.

May I ask where you got that assumption of the male Viera being small? You do realize females in all the races are smaller compared it to the male counterpart. A lot of people wanted Viera, many of them with the expectation of it looking like Fran or having a similar vibe to Fran. Granted we haven't seen a male yet but we have always been given a rough idea of them being savages including the concept art.

I am all for a role reverse race but I honestly believe it can't be with the Viera's; In any way or shape. When we are talking about the subspecies like the Feol that a completely different story but in this case I can't see us having both varients. Diversity is great but you have to keep in mind the east. Japanese players may think oddly about this concept.

Male bunnies are smaller than the females, so there's justification in that. Granted that doesn't mean they'll be tiny compared to them, and given how tall female Viera are the males can still be shorter but still pretty tall.
That said, I both hope they'll stick to the released concept art as well as don't think they'll stray from it. They already have it, so that's at least some work they won't have to redo when the time comes to release the buns.

Fair enough, I did mention I wasn't against the idea of one being smaller prior to my reply. Only if it is by a small amount. Having a literal child like male seems a bit.... "Unrealistic" in terms of lore.

That's the one thing I am hoping they refrain from drawing upon. I'd rather they were not smaller than the females and I don't want a repeat of what they did with the au ra.

Made a forum account just to like this-- I would very much appreciate the unlocking of both new races, but completely understand if such actions require a large amount of time to deliver.
