New main scenario? ~ FFXIV 2.0 related.

Yes they stated that v2 will end the umbral era story line that is currenly playing out and begin a new one rendering the umbral era story line unplayable. The meteor is most likely going to be the explination for the change of the world/area maps. Which I think is wonderfully clever that they are taking the time to make the changes coincide with a story line instead of just zoning into the Black Shroud one day and have it be all different.

I'm expecting it will be some large Kefka-esk event where there is a breaking and reformation of the world in the form of meteor. EXCITING

The main storyline isn't the umbral era storyline though, the main storyline is the one involving the path of the twelve which they said would continue.

A little off topic here, but whats the difference between the two?

I just recently started playing again because I wanted to experience the storylines that won't be available in 2.0, is there a link or wiki you could point me to with an overview of how/where to start the Umbral era stuff?

umbral era starts when urianger attacks you with his familiar and continues in the grand company questline about meteor. I guess it technically started when he started showing up at camps warning you about the umbral era if you count that as the start of a questline.

they kinda merge as the main characters from each of the main questlines are apparently friends of Urianger, but the two questlines are seperate.

Thank the Twelve! I would hate to see that storyline drop off with so many possibilities for continuation.
