Knee jerk reactions are getting out of hand on these forums. But honestly I quickly glance at this forum and then move onto other sources of info/news for this game that have less whining.
I get ya though OP, it'll die down. Kudos to the dev team though, this expansion looks legit :3

its not baseless THEY HAD A CHANCE 2 TRY WITH NO HEALER IN STORMBLOOD.but instead they wasted time on monster hunter, majong and blue mage and how wasting it on ff15 event they should be using that effort to fix what they are making excuses for that is not baseless ITS A FACT

also if they prove what they are saying in facts as in a flow/pie cart of their excuse back up with facts i might buy it and respect it but making a non found excuse when it was made before stormbringers does not Desever respect

fact is they didn't want 2 give healers anything ... thats their only real reason
And you certainly haven't earned the respect of being heard.

The reveal that Dancer was a ranged DPS caught a lot of players by surprise as well. Why did the team decide to add another DPS to the game as opposed to a new healer?

A.) Out of curiosity why was the community generally expecting it to be a healer?

Me.) Mostly because we really expected it to be both a tank and a healer for the expansion.

A.) Simply we only had two ranged physical DPS so we wanted to add another. We have 4 tanks and 4 melee dps, 3 casters and 3 healers, and yet there were only 2 ranged dps. We wanted to balance the number of jobs across the board.

We also really wanted to add another tank to balance the tanks more. With 4 tanks, we can better balance the tank role, with two main tanks and two off-tanks.

When players decide which role or job to play. Even a small difference in abilities and attribute make a big difference. People like to take Paladin as an off-tank thanks to abilities like Cover, so the Warrior and Dark Knight are fighting for the main-tank spot most commonly.

So hypothetically speaking, if we rebalance things and put Warrior as MT, then the Paladin and Dark Knight would be fighting for off-tank. No matter what we really needed to balance this with two and two. Its much more fair this way, so its two jobs between main tank and two between off-tank. This is very tentative so please convey this is no indication at all of our final plans.

When looking at this history of healing jobs. Making strong balance between three jobs it has been tough. With three its been tough, so with a 4th the balance might get even worse. Instead of doing this, we want to prioritize balancing them better this expansion so we didn’t want to add a new healer at 4.0 or 5.0. We really think we need to restructure the way healers are handled. We can’t keep this strict division between pure healer and barrier healer. Something needs to change here so we can maintain good balance. Thats the main reason we didn’t have a healer. First priority was to add a 3rd ranged, then a 4th tank while we balance the healers better.

We need to maybe change the way to present new jobs at Fan Festivals. Perhaps reveal the roles first and then reveal the job later to subvert expectations.

Well, back in WoW I was "stuck" with just one healer as I played Paladin mostly, would've needed to level-up, gear, grind reputations and all that all over again - so being comfy with having multiple options in FFXIV is quite easy. Been happy with AST due to cards and ability to choose either stance as needed.

honestoy i get the genderlock and rng dps but the timing is just wrong

6 years nothing for healer.. every 2 years dps get something and honestly all dps are the same with slight differences bottom line your for doing dmg. so another dps could have waited 2 years. .

but being slapped in the face 2 expansions in a roll and expecting us to not bite isnt very bright

I say let them go, it opens up housing for anyone else and or either transfers control of the house to someone else that cares about the people who invested into the property.

Why stop there delete all together, why keep the account sitting there if you are done?
I mean the millions who are going to come back for the expansion will take the place of those who left.

I don't like seeing talk like this because it reflects on everyone who are from the states and wonder what they think of us when you try to force them to do something when they are trying to make a fun game for us all to play because you didn't get what you wanted.

Speaking personally, I haven't been fine with the direction of XIV for quite some time. Nor have many others here on the forums. I suspect a lot of the reason for the outcry and unsubbing (assuming people are following through with their threats) is more that various items coming out of the most recent Fan Fest were the step too far for a lot of people, rather than the entire issue in and of themselves.

Picking on the role-playing elements of XIV for a minute, let's chart just a sketch of some of the major disappointments with XIV that have either gone unresolved or been only partly and half-heartedly addressed.

    (1) Glamours. They didn't exist initially; when they were implemented the system was a convoluted mess; the Glamour Dresser is still severely limited, with no imminent sign that it'll get fixed in the near future. Many outfits are still gendered, starter gear is still race-locked, and most problematically, SE continues to hide behind the ridiculously flimsy excuse of 'lore' to keep item Glamours role-restricted.

    (2) Character customization. No new customization options have been added beyond hairstyles since the creation of the game, and to be frank, the customization was weak even then. We haven't even gotten new face-paint / tattoo options to my knowledge, and those should be easy to implement.

    (3) Housing. It was bad at launch, it stayed bad for a long time, and even now on more populated worlds it isn't sufficiently available. It's also worth noting that SE never even really apologized for the situation, more just waved their hands about server restraints as if it wasn't their decision in the first place to build a system that they couldn't properly support with the hardware available.

    ----------

And now, SE caps it offer with gender-locked races.

These major issues stretch back *years*. They have been frustrating people for *years*. I personally am not especially frustrated by these components of the game, but others are - similar patterns hold for other areas. My boyfriend, who didn't love AST, hasn't gotten a new Healer option to sink his teeth into since ARR launched. He was fine with a Healer that didn't appeal to him with Heavensward. He was disappointed but understanding when one didn't make it into Stormblood. Now he's angry that yet another expansion is apparently being released without a new option for his preferred role. And why do you think it is people reacted so badly to Eureka? It's because it wasn't the first time SE made predictably poor decisions designing that type of content: they'd fouled up Diadem and Diadem 2.0 beforehand, before ignoring player feedback - again - with Eureka. I still can't believe they haven't gone back and implemented an elemental Level Sync feature so friends can play together, the lack of which is completely responsible for me and my boyfriend not giving the content more chances as additional maps were released.

So, that's why people are complaining, and it's why the voices are getting louder. People aren't over-reacting to one bad piece of news; they're reacting more strongly to SE continuing down paths that they find problematic. FFXIV has a stunning amount of goodwill behind it considering the disaster that was 1.0, but it's been slowly decaying over the course of Stormblood in particular. SE is running out of time to meaningfully react to what their players want. They've done a terrible job of that so far, and there's a price to pay eventually.

more you have content, more you take risk to make ppl not satisfie of the result

and the game has a lot of issues which could easy avoided if the designer got some insight stuff in their mind.

after i say my mind, and discuss with ppl, rarely agreed it seem, but a forum is here to speak about stuff.

    btw you are complaning too by complaining yourself of complaining people;

    so lol
