Gender-locking isn't sexist

So if they were to give us male Viera and female Hrothgar instead, would that be sexist too? Because there are people that want Hrothgar, and there are those that want Viera. And the dev team doesn't have the resources to do all 4 of them at the same time. So according to you now this case will also be sexist, since we don't have the equal counterpart.

While it would not conform to the sexist societal norms of hypermasculine men and hyperfeminine women and therefore would not have the same weight of lifelong prejudice that many people experience, it would be a form of gender-discrimination and arguably sexist on that basis alone. And I'm willing to be people would be just as vocal about having their other-gendered counterparts. Especially female Viera.

As far as limited resources the answer would have been to give us one race with both genders.

If they had to decide between making a bunny race with both male and female, or make a bunny race with female only, and add another diverse option in form of another race and make that male only to balance the option between male and female, I'm very much happy they went with the latter decision.

So instead of just getting one race with male and females with bunny ears, we got a whole new race instead. This adds so much more diversity to different kinds of people instead of just catering to one group of people who only wanted bunnies. Masking it with lore reasons too is even cooler.

According to what you said before, it will still be sexist, since we still don't have the balancing counterpart. But now you say it's not because it doesn't conform to the sexist societal norms. So that brings me back to my previous post.

So in order to avoid sexism, we should never make any muscular looking males or sexy looking females but instead make all females savage monstrous looking and all males feminine. Go it.

And the dev team wanted to make the Hrothgar only. But since players have been asking for Viera, they had to choose between the female Hrothgar and female Viera. So it would be OK if they made Viera's muscular savage looking bunnies to avoid being sexist? (I can't imagine the outrage if they did lol)

It surprisingly has little to do with neither sexism or lore. While I cannot fully agree with his decision it is pretty clear he was trying to provide for a wider playerbase. Read the whole thing. In hw he was tentative about viera due to lore but not for shb.

Basically, they should have just run a cost-benefit analysis and created one race with both genders.

While Hrothgar (Ronso) definitely have their devotees, I believe their appeal is more niche than Viera, so M/F Viera would probably have been the safest choice.

That being said, female Ronso have the potential to look pretty badass, so I am mostly just sad about what could have been.

I disagree with you. A lot of men and woman feel personally attacked right now, and I can understand why. Gender norms are a hot button issue right now, because everyone is sick of being stereotyped. Its only natural that our society is reevaluating them right now after all the stuff men and women have been through.

They only feel attacked because they didn't get their toy. There is nothing sexist in not releasing a certain gender to a certain race its just a wild punch that gets thrown by people who don't know what sexist is. Its actually really sad that people get worked up that much that they accuse the developers of such nonsense.

I would love to see the sexist screamers in games like Blade and Soul and Tera for example where you not only have gender locks but also classes that are exclusive to certain races.

I don't think it's sexist, personally. I think it's tremendously lazy and has resulted in a lot of grief if the forums are any indication. There is some Viera lore already in the game (go to the Prima Vista airship and talk to the NPCs there to learn about male viera). There's nothing on the Hrothgar, and I suspect we'll get some cop-out excuse about female Hrothgar being up a mountain in seclusion or some other lazy nonsense.

Just as they stitched a cat face and some mangy fur onto a roe male body, they could have done the same for a roe female. It's hard to tell from the preview of Viera, but if Fran is any indication, they aren't nearly as tall as they should be. Maybe the height scale will help with that... One can hope.

Lore is a viable excuse, and so far...we have no idea what the actual lore for both races are. The entire problem is that many folks made assumptions during the whole process.

People fantasized about being a male Viera, and when it didn't come to light are now enraged. The fact is, we have a Dev team that has poured serious energy into making a great product. The only reason Viera is in the game is that people begged for it. People begged for BLU, Dev team had no idea if it would work...they gave it to you and you raged.

It's okay to not like certain content coming out. What's not okay is claiming restrictions on your rights, homophobia, sexism and even throwing death threats at someone just because you didn't get your own way

The world doesn't owe you anything. Capitalism gives you the right to support with your dollar. I'm keeping my support. They add blue sure but everyone in game and forums could have made blue mage better without it being limit and mailed those suggestions to them which were ignored.

also no they didn't over bunny they listen 2 the popular crowed and just submitted 2 the majority honestly i wanted quina,gneomes, or rat ppl the most...
