I see a lot of people not sure how this move is homophobic and to be honest I dont really see it that way either, but I can try to explain why some people do. Yes your character can be gay all you want since that is entirely up to you, but the message over all is that men are men and women are women. So yeah you can be gay, but you better be manly gay, no effeminate looking men in FFXIV except maybe cat bois, but even then they look manly I guess compared to lady cats.

    Do not want male Viera

I actually strongly do not want male Viera brought into the game in any capacity.

I'm someone who was first introduced to the Viera race through FFTA, and then got to be blown away by how much FFXII expanded on them. I'm a major fan of the Ivalice Alliance, and more than anything I would like for its lore to be respected in some basic ways rather than have a race as prominent as Viera be altered unnecessarily just because people want to have a character that looks a certain way.

I would really like the male Viera option added. Not going to stop playing just because of this though. They made a decision and despite my personal feelings about it, I don't think being a dick about it will change anything. Never does. Hope we get it but if not then Au Ra for life I guess

I would appreciate your reconsideration of adding male Viera to the game. Thank you.

I'm pretty sure this has been said before but, if we were going to be "lore friendly" about this, female Viera would not be playable and male Viera would. The male Viera live on their borders and have more reason and opportunity to leave the forest and go adventuring. The way they have introduced Viera into the game is already at odds with the lore as it is now.

Edit 1: To expand on this, the female Viera live comfortable lives within their villages in the forest. The male Viera live lives of hardship trying to survive in the wilderness. Most people when they live a hard life tend to try their utmost to somehow transfer themselves into a more enjoyable and comfortable state of living. Following this train of thought, the male Viera survive on their own near the forest borders to protect the forest. Yes, some of the males may feel honor bound to stay put and protect, but you can be damn sure there are some who are more likely to seek a better life else where and never bother returning. So it really makes no sense to exclude male Viera for lore reasons.

Edit 2: I'm pretty sure this has been said as well, but even the males who feel the need to protect could have an easy lore friendly excuse for leaving the forest. The greenword of the Forest told him he needed to go out in the world to become the Warrior of Light in order to protect the world and by proxy, his home land as well.

This is true, we don't have an elegant looking race yet,(unless you count the male elezen, but they have a neck problem lmao) we have bulky, and mid tier covered, and the male Viera could've been a great addition to add some physical diversity to the male races. I mean christ SE know they CAN make elegant males, but they usually turn out to be character designs by our homeboy Amano or Namae lmao.

As an XI player for years that dabbled in 1.0, I still remember how freakin' beyond thrilled I was when the first male Miqo'te screenshots were released during 2.0 development!

I think I'd feel very differently if either Viera or Hrothgar were absolutely verified to be female or male only (like the Galka in XI- they were 'male only' but not REALLY male if you wanted to get technical, they actually constantly reincarnated. Male Mithra existed, but canonically were also rare enough that they were actually gently, but forcibly kept within Mithra towns and cities to help ensure that the Mithra had a breeding population- they were literally not allowed to go out and adventure at all, thus why there were no playable male Mithra.)

However, we know that male Viera exist (to the point of XIV lore having even been specifically created for them) and we know female Hrothgar exist due to female Ronso being very present and existing.

Give us the bunnie bois and lion ladies!

Signed. I'm a female player, who is looking most forward to female Viera, but I've never approved of gender locked races. I've been locked out of a race I find the concept of to be interesting because of gender (I just don't want to play a male character, they don't represent me.) enough times to not want to wish it on anybody else. Please bring Viera males into the game! <3

Thing is we may not have an 'elegant' race as you stated but in the same concept we also didn't have any true beastial races until Hrothgar were added in.

As for the male Viera concept, who knows we might get one down the line (midway into ShB I'd say at latest given the time it does take to make models) but either way with how people have been treating this so far, I don't think any form of male viera would be good enough for some people. You'd have so many people complaining if it were seen as too lanky, or if they were made too muscly (Hell would we get this reaction we're currently getting if the male viera had the male hrothgar body type I wonder).

All in all, just...sit and wait for the devs to do their thing. We already have confirmation they're looking at feedback after all.
