There is a large sect of people that automatically say "hahahhaha sjws, hahahhaha sexism is a joke, hahahahha triggered."EVERYTHING can be turned into something sexist, and I literally mean EVERYTHING. People need to calm the bloody hell down. If people were being properly constructive about this, and not throwing out insults at people who are/aren't ok with the genderlocks, as well as SE, and properly put their energy into making something constructive that people could agree on, then I'd be all game for it.
But with how people are acting like 2 year olds that had candy taken from them, WHEN THEY DIDN'T EVEN GET SAID CANDY YET, is a huge over reaction on all parts, and it's getting really old really damn fast.
Its just as bad as the opposite imo. We need to hear each other out instead of fighting. The backlash is a sign that these issues are still very much dear to our hearts.

As far as this topic you are looking for issues that simply don't exist. That is a problem in itself. Do they exist somehow somewhere else? I have no doubt. But this is not one of those times or places. They cited time constraints. Unless time constraints are also sexist now which wouldn't surprise me. This is using an understandable agenda that I actually sympathize with the wrong way just so you can get what you want. That is despicable at best. There is a large sect of people that automatically say "hahahhaha sjws, hahahhaha sexism is a joke, hahahahha triggered."

If people throw words like sexism and homophobia around without just cause, then they can be dismissed. I remember when words had meaning. There is a large sect of people that automatically say "hahahhaha sjws, hahahhaha sexism is a joke, hahahahha triggered."

It's not sexist because it also happens in our real world with certain animal species... and before that guy from Hydatos comes in and says we aren't animals again, or anyone else for that matter, I will preemptively shake my head.
Now, as a veteran FFXI player with a decade of playing it, and almost another decade off-and-on along side FFXIV, I can say that I am in full support of gender locked playable races if the lore explains WHY the opposite gender isn't running around in abundance. In FFXI the males had an extremely low birth rate in the Mithran population; and Galka were just reincarnated. Or something. It got really weird the more they explained it, so I just put it into the back of my head as lolplot.
Now in FFXIV, 1.0 is an entirely different beast with its own lore compared to 2.0 and beyond. You cannot compare the two because they are, at the end of the day, two entirely different games.
Sometimes... I dream about cheese.
Really if you use a word to describe everything you hate then then word has no meaning to it. If you wanted to say something was sexist in XIV it would be hard to find seeing as the vast majority of roles and actions in the world can be done by both people. The only thing I know of in the world that can only be done by one gender or the other are titles.
given how many lore braking events, items, mounts, titles, and outfits we have it seems a little strange to suddenly make gender the one place were lore matters

It’s not sexist. But it’s sad

Oh, I'm willing to hear people out, but when when people THROW THINGS AROUND AS A BASIS OF THEIR ARGUMENT. Stop treating everything like this. There is a large sect of people that automatically say "hahahhaha sjws, hahahhaha sexism is a joke, hahahahha triggered."

And just an fyi, I'm literally part of the community that DOES NOT GIVE A RAT'S BUTT over the fact that these are gender locked, and I can't take someone like you serious when you're making EVERYTHING LIKE THIS AN ISSUE. Be constructive without throwing around labels, and maybe I'd listen proper, but as of right now you're just throwing cans of gas on a fire that was started for the dumbest excuses.
Post threads saying the benefits of adding the genders you're demanding. Don't throw around blown out of proportioned words like sexism/homophobia or whatever trash you want to throw in, don't sling any bit of shite on anything else. If someone made a legit and reasonable thread, I'd support it, but right now I'm just seeing trash like 'lolol sexism'.

First off, there's no lore that says that female Hrothgar have to stay at home to protect children. You made that shit up. We don't even know the lore of Hrothgar yet.The definition of sexism is anything that limits, or restricts a gender on the basis of gender roles.
Not letting us play female Hrothgar because they stay at home to protect the children is sexist.
Not letting us play male Viera because they are out in the woods doing stereotypical man stuff is sexist.
Secondly, saying that the male Viera aren't playable because they're not allowed in female villages and live solely in the woods isn't sexist.
Thirdly, SE has not said in explicit terms that they won't let us play [X] or [Y] because they don't believe that either gender deserves to have the roles or anything. You are deliberately fanning the flames and putting words in the developer's mouth so you can find like-minded people to rally pitchforks against them just because you didn't get something you wanted.
You know what sexism is? Going into the workplace as a woman or man, and being told you can't do Job [A] because they don't think your gender would be appropriate for it. Sexism is people thinking that only women can be nurses instead of males, sexism is a business paying males or females a higher wage than the other gender, sexism is believing that men can't raise children correctly because they're not females, etc. The list of crimes could go on. Sexism for this game would be if the developers didn't offer both genders from the start period. Sexism for XIV would be if, from the very start of ARR, you could only play as males or you could only play as females, then, and ONLY THEN, could we argue the developers are truly sexist.
Sexism is not being told you can't play this race as this gender because the developers didn't have time to make them or they just feel that having male Viera or female Hrothgar would be weird for the culture of Eorzea, not YOUR culture, not MY culture, but THE GAME's culture. A fictional world that is not nor will ever be governed by REAL WORLD POLITICAL HOT TOPICS.
Obviously, you don't know or have ever been faced with a real case of sexism, because if you did, you wouldn't be tossing the word around so carelessly and making it lose it's true value where it actually matters.
