Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

Definitely hoping Square develops the other genders. I was feeling very excited for Shadowbringers until the recent news about the gender-locked races and no new healer. And the fact that Hrothgar and Viera won't even be able to use basic glamour items like glasses at launch... Y I K E S. A lot of my hype has faded--I honestly wasn't even planning to play a Viera since I still prefer Miqo'te, but my overall feeling is now "If they were this rushed on getting races developed, where else has the development suffered in this expansion?" Are we going to get truly inventive raids, 24-mans, and new content in this expansion to make up for the short-fall on the race development? ...Or is the whole entire game plagued by under-staffing and a lack of appropriate development schedule?

To me, the genderlock is just another sign of the corner-cutting that's grown increasingly obvious with each patch, so I'm desperately hoping they have plans to rectify this issue as soon as possible...

Except for hunting for Food or taking the young male Viera from the female to take them to their Village, so why should we get the option to play as one ?

It's the exact same thing for male Miqo'te but they're playable.

Absolutely wish to see male Viera (and female Hrothgar) in the game. Genderlocking is outdated and has no place in modern game design.

I agree, genderlocked races are outdated and an insult to the fanbase. "Lore" is a poor excuse. Who makes up that lore in the first place? SE could easily have given us male Viera like they gave us male Miqo'te, but "male Viera would be weird" apparently. I just can't believe they're pulling this crap again after Yoshi P promised they wouldn't. I'm so disappointed in SE right now.

Yeah.. because they were created for FFXIV, with it's own lore in FFXIV, so up to a certain point they can change the lore if they want to do something new with them, i believe the thing with the Viera is a bit different, i don't think you can compare these two things with each other.

The thing about this is, according to its own lore, we shouldn't be able to play either gender of Viera. Females rarely if ever leave their villages, males shun all contact with everyone except their trainees and the few times they go to procreate. In ffxii, Fran left her village and was immediately banished for it. They were perfectly willing to drive her off, especially when she came back with a bunch of outsiders.

Given this, we shouldn't have Viera as playable at all, so delete Viera, give us female Hrothgar.

If you're going to use lore as an excuse to deny giving us a certain gender, don't be hypocritical about it. Both, or none.

Tbh, it seems more likely for the males to end up going off on their own than the females, so by this logic, delete female viera, give us male only.
