I am sorry but Blizzard making a huge deal of releasing a Diablo game then only to show its mobile release is whole country lengths different then what SE has done. You can defend them as much as you want. It doesn't change the fact that they could have said something after the Female Viera announcement, like it the missing genders would come in time, they wanted to give players more diversity and as such more options in regards to race differences, they wanted to perfect the races missing genders due to their body proportions being extremely different to what we currently had in game, ect...
Instead the hid the truth, remained silent while a great deal of the player base made obvious their expectations, and and cited their own established lore to validate their stance, after they have already thrown out that same lore for other races.
Respect is supposed to be earned, Yoshi P has gone a long way to get that from the community, that's why this stings so much. I expected better from him. He let his bias choose the outcome here and hid it until the final fan fest in Tokyo with no explanation in the face of fan excitement. As i see it he hid the truth until he knew player wouldn't call him out on it while on stage. Blizzard taught many developers something very valuable. Make sure your audience can't/ wont call you out to your face.

This is a lie. A bold lie.Must be nice living in a bubble. Take a good long look at these forums and the reddit and tell us how people are "insulting others for being disappointed". Almost every attack is coming from YOUR side, calling people and the devs sexists, misogynists and going berserk about not having a 4th healer when Ranged DPS only had 2 choices.
What does this look like to you? And it's not the only thread that was provoking or taunting people. And this without mentioning the singular comments left that did the exact same.
I wonder who is living in a bubble now.
Especially when even Reddit recognised that it was just a minority throwing around "sexism" and "toxicity" with the accompanying ad hominems.
How very bipartisan of you.
To be honest...without any kind of massive outrage the Devs never react to anything.
Just remember how much outrage was needed to make Yoshi react to the BIS Weapon in Diadem 2.
And in the end, his response made it even worse...but this is another Story. But I have the feeling that we will hear something like "Stay calm...you have the Hrothgar as a male Race.".

I think it needs to be said that just because the community wants something, it doesn't mean they have to acquiesce to what everyone wants no matter how much its voiced. While it's great that they listen and do make certain changes based on feedback, I think part of the community has this notion that just because they want something that they have to add it into the game. Just be glad they actually listen.

final fantasy ive always respected and loved. in fact ff is a bog reason im still alive when i was in 3rd grade i want to fade until my cousin picked me up and had me watch him play ff6 on ps1..
being unable 2 leave home due 2 physical issue and growing up in a ward ya i act like well whatever you want to call it..
ff has always been emotional and thats y we love it.. i main healers only because it gives me some hope that all things can be cured and being slapped in the face expansion after expansion damn straight I'm going 2 raise hell
I don't understand why people are saying "sexist" is an insult.
Sexism is displaying views that are discriminatory, stereotyping, or prejudiced, in regards to gender/sex.
People have been pointing out the "males are big hulking monsters and females are pretty cutesy lingerie models" stereotype in videogames for ages, especially mmos. This is just another case of that, and it's exacerbated by the fact that it's something FFXIV had specifically gone out of its way to avoid in the past.
Not to mention the whole "male bunnies would be weird" statement, and the fact that the male devs said they felt too uncomfortable designing the Gold Saucer bunny suit for male characters, and passed it on to female devs to work on. Stereotyping based on gender. Devs being "uncomfortable" by the idea of any sort of effeminate male, as if feminine things are "bad." That's sexism.
Are Yoshi-P and the devs being maliciously sexist? Of course not. This is not out of a place of hate at all. It's simply unfortunate, old-fashioned cultural values influencing decisions. But that doesn't change the fact that it's sexist. Sexist isn't an insult. Calling someone "sexist" isn't mean at all. It's just calling out a person on how they are stereotyping, whether it's on purpose or just subconsciously influenced.
Usually when people find "sexist" as an insult it's because they actually are sexist and don't want to admit it. "How dare you accuse me of stereotyping! How awful of you!" etc.

Fun ppl understand the background problems with that moment indeed. Blizzard had been silent with the game for months then at blizzcon who they hyped then de-hyped revealed that, now they tried to damage control by saying that they were not done with d3, but aside from some affixes to 1-2 seasons there was a whole bag of nothing.
Now the fansite is dead for the lost interest of ppl and frankly the franchise looks dead. So ye there's an abyss from the 2 example

I'm starting to suspect the gold saucer bunny suit was used as a sort of psychological a/b test to investigate the number of players that would actually be interested in a Viera race, and not just forum shitposters propping up demand for something that isn't there.

Honestly this negativity is actually kiling the little hype i had for shadowbringers. I guess i'll get some of it back in May.
People have always complained but this is some next level stuff.

Indeed it is! There are men like me who wanted to be a bunny. Hearing about the excuses that were made on why Viera men were not included is insulting. I have indeed always wanted Ronso, but I did not want them to be added in this way. I want races in this game to be playable as male, or female. Not just one or the other unless it is a genderless race, and genderless races do exist in some games. Usually they just have features that are beyond male or female. I.e. a being made of pure light.I mean, you can spin it any way you like but not adding a race based solely on the idea that male bunnies would be "weird" is pretty sexist/homophobic. It implies that men can't be associated with certain traits that women can be. Imagine if they made it so that girl characters couldn't play the warrior job because wielding such a heavy weapon would be "weird" for a girl to do.
I just wanna know how making a half naked lion man is less "weird" than guys with bunny ears. I don't get it. If people see sexism and homophobia in the situation, let them. You're not in any place to tell them what they're feeling isn't valid. I get wanting things to calm down, but telling people that their mindset is false and imaginary isn't the way to go about it.
Side note, why is it that so many people complaining about people complaining are female au ra? :v Strange pattern.
