Please be responsible and don't act like children - (my two cents)

Now as it stands, I'm mildly disappointed with the backlash a vocal part of the community has taken with recent news. Regardless on whether this was something you wanted or not, this kind of response with the name calling is not an attitude acceptable anywhere. I know people are angry, and while I show an issue with this, my disdain is towards the behaviour and not the people.

Tackling the Dancer job first, I understand we were anticipating a healer. Sadly we did not get a healer, however in an interview, Yoshi P stated how of all the job types, healer was the hardest to balance and they'd rather have the DPS and Tank jobs in a more balanced state before throwing a new healer into the mix. So the choice they've made is to focus on a job type which actually has less jobs than healers, in this case Ranged DPS. To take a positive look on this, now Dancer is out of the way, I saw Chemist as a healer job in the future (likely when we go to Garlemard) a very real possibility.

Secondly, the race issue. Now if you paid attention to what Yoshi said before the Hrothgar announcement, they had a lot of meetings about what decision to make. And given the scenario, the two main choices they had were likely this:
    - 1 new race with both male and female
    - 2 new races, one male and one female
Ultimately they went with the second choice, and, as I believe Yoshi said, was a choice to give players more variety in Beast race. And from that perspective, I can accept that choice. I agree for many that is a choice they wouldn't have picked but that's each to their own, and I would rather have what we have now that nothing at all.

So now comes my gripe with the community. I distinctly don't remember Yoshi or any Dev stating that we weren't gonna get Male Viera or Female Hrothgar in the future. In fact, I would assume given the community's desire for male Viera, having them added in the future was a very real possibility. But this is where my professional opinion comes in as a school teacher. With the absolutely poor attitude that a minority have decided to take, I am now in the mindset that adding male Viera will create a worse issue, and that's giving this vocal minority the belief that being rude gives results. And while I agree that it wouldn't be fair to the people that want male Viera and aren't being self entitled brats to not add them in the future, I believe setting a precedent that being a brat gets results won't be fair on the community or the developers.

So this is me imploring those that are kicking up a fuss and giving our community a bad name, please, rein that anger in. No one wants to empower brattish behaviour, and if you continue to act this way, there's the real chance that we won't get male Viera or female Hrothgar. Give it time, be reasonable in requests and be adult like. Not only are the devs more likely to work towards a suitable middle ground, but you'll also create a better community for us all.

To be fair, it's coming from both sides. While the people upset don't need to be aggressive, those that don't care need not insult others for being disappointed either.

True, but that's why I specify my issue is with the negative attitude people are taking, and calling the devs sexist or homophobic and generally trying to make a massive controversy out of this is out of line and needs to be addressed. There's a reason we don't give in to children acting like brats when they don't get their way, why should it be any different for adults?

I don't see many people saying devs are sexist.
I see people saying that the consistent choices to make hyper-masculine males and ultra-feminine females is sexist.
There's a difference between calling someone sexist, and calling out actions that perpetuate sexist stereotypes.

I've said this before, the people who are throwing tantrums right now are just showing SE that they can't be pleased. Imagine their reaction, too, if they'd gotten male Viera but not the specific way they wanted.

Totally agree. Especially when the players are turning a software development issue into a moral war...

Totally agree. I think it is healthy for a community to voice their disappointment and concerns, but not to the point where it becomes petty and toxic (I watched the chat from the twitch stream, that was some toxic stuff I was reading). It is also important to remember to respect other peoples opinions as well. So far, I haven't seen any name calling or anything blatantly bad. As far as the "Unsub" threats. All I can say is, you do you. If you don't feel like you are getting your moneys worth than it is your right to stop paying for the game. Personally, I want to see how well 5.0 does because it looks like some things will be changed up a bit (for better or for worse).

I mean, you can spin it any way you like but not adding a race based solely on the idea that male bunnies would be "weird" is pretty sexist/homophobic. It implies that men can't be associated with certain traits that women can be. Imagine if they made it so that girl characters couldn't play the warrior job because wielding such a heavy weapon would be "weird" for a girl to do.

I just wanna know how making a half naked lion man is less "weird" than guys with bunny ears. I don't get it. If people see sexism and homophobia in the situation, let them. You're not in any place to tell them what they're feeling isn't valid. I get wanting things to calm down, but telling people that their mindset is false and imaginary isn't the way to go about it.

Side note, why is it that so many people complaining about people complaining are female au ra? :v Strange pattern.

I appreciate where you're coming from, but the childish behaviour is not only coming from one side. What about people who are indifferent to the announcements but revel in others' disappointment? What about calling people "autistic" as an insult? What about accusations of blackmailing the devs by cancelling your sub? There's toxicity all around and these people are also contributing to a negative feeling in the community. If their toxicity is left unchecked, the message that sends is that people aren't allowed to feel disappointment with game developments. That they're not allowed to voice their concerns, even in a constructive manner. Enabling this attitude does nothing to help the community either.

Except nowhere have they said that they're not adding Male Viera because it would be "weird". As I pointed out, they never dismissed the possibility of adding male Viera in the future.
