How about we worry about something else..?
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...few-exceptions
Could be they wanted to stick close to the lore from XII which pretty much does the exact same thing we see here. Really can't get anymore "Viera" than this.[/QUOTE]
I GENUINELY cannot wait to come back in a couple years after they fixed this mistake (AGAIN) to see all the "MALE VIERA WOULDNT MAKE SENSE AND ARE STUPID" / "FEMALE HROTHGARS R UGLY" fantasia'd into one of those two, just like in the "pls give male miqo'te and female roe/highlander" request thread from 1.x
Not really any worse than yugiri being afraid to show her face around your au ra character, the U tribe treating your U cat like an outsider, or a xaela telling your xaela that you're not of the steppe. (or I guess your qestir being able to use anything other than /emote). Lore is neither a chain binding the possibilities of the game, nor does it come from anywhere outside the devs' control. The wandering dramaturge is a scapegoat for the devs to say "Seee we really couldn't do this really hard thing that is hard that we don't wanna do because it's just soooo haaarrdd guuuyyyssss"
Oh lawdy.
I mean, we can worry about both, they're not mutually exclusive considering the races affected. ^_^;;
Honestly doesn't worry me at all. Their thought process it entirely justifiable, having more unique head shapes and face options means that full helmets were always going to be a problem - and trust me when I say we don't need another Worgen or Tauren helmet issue again.
Hats, glasses, maybe even face masks would look fine. But helmets won't look right at all.
I can see it being the case for Hrothgar, but I have a harder time being sold on the idea that Viera wouldn't have a workable option, and the hardest time with glasses falling under that.Honestly doesn't worry me at all. That I could see yeah, I mean hell if they need to they could just clip the ears through the top of helmets like they do with tails on capes. That or have pre-5.0 models not show and adjust Viera versions for the newer ones like they do to conform with Miqo ears (ideally not covering the ears, but cutting holes in the top to let them through.)
I would be fine with that, actually I would be fine for holes for Miqo'te ears too. Granted, I'm not phased by clipping either; I play an Au Ra and you probably know as well as I do that the horns will clip through everything, and I played WoW as an elf for 14ish years. Clipping is the norm for me. xDThat I could see yeah, I mean hell if they need to they could just clip the ears through the top of helmets like they do with tails on capes. It's 2019. No more gender-locked races! Male Viera and female Hrothgar should be part and parcel of the playable races. There's literally no need for this. And I don't care that there's other races who fall within the realm of what people are looking for physically from both these.
What is the point in telling them "well, you already have male miqo'te and female roegadyn, why do you need THESE too?" There's sexy ladies in the game already. Now we're getting some with bunny ears. Let people who want these have them and enjoy them as much as folks are looking forward to female Viera and male Hrothgar.
Although I agree with your stance both on the Hrothgar, and the gender-lock, I doubt the NA or EU crowd would react in such a way - the reactions to BLU were fairly muted, after all. Assuming it's true, though, why would they want their expensive, time-consuming event disrupted by mob outrage? Bearing in mind the communication gulf already caused by the language divide.I used this in another thread, Though i feel it fits here as well.
Damning that they waited to get back home to break the news. Made damn sure to be safe among more level headed individuals that wouldn't outright boo'd them while on stage. If Blizzcon has taught us anything, it's that trying to sell tone def, condescending, half baked, excuses, wouldn't be quietly tolerated in an american convention setting. Their cowardliness would have been exposed, their stances challenged.
I personally feel insulted by the low level graphic display the Hrothgar/ Ronso have atm... Their face looks like a rubber mask, unable to make even the most basic level facial animations... Couple this with their horrible postures and body animations... Such sloppy and obviously rushed sub par work is disgraceful. I'm used to more polish from FF series games, this looks atrocious.
I'm sure some out there will find value to them. However, atm when compared to even current player character models they look ridiculously sub par, to say nothing of their comparison against Veira models. I not only impatiently await not only both races losing the ludicrous gender locks but also the graphic fidelity raised for Hrothgar/ Roso.
To be completely honest, when i first saw Hrothgar i was repulsed. In my opinion they bring the overall presentation of the game down. How am i supposed to take seriously MSQ plot points if they should make one of those grocery store Halloween mask rejects, espouse story line or exposition? I hated Lupin for this exact reason, they made me hate the Othard points of Stormblood all the more (apart from the obvious evisceration and subsequent back burner treatment Gyr Abania was relegated to).
However, i understand that is my issue, this game is not made solely for me, and others have wanted bestial races for a long time. Regardless of my own feelings on the matter, at least SE did listen to some of their fans on that account. I will not however concede to the gender locking issue. While i never want to see the furry abominations myself, others may want to make their own female Hrothgar/ Ronso, there definitely those that want their male Viera as well. As has been said multiple times, SE has no defense in not having them included in the game. Not through Lore, not through the excuse of development time/ resources, nor the false narrative of lack of player demand. They intentionally made this hassle for themselves, to themselves. Let them fix this mess of their own making.
As odd as it may sound, that does give me some cause for hope that they will reverse the gender-lock.
Anyway, I'll move over to this thread regarding this whole fiasco.
