To be fair we do stand at less than knee height, so I don't know if we can really stand for it.

Not really? Like, we are adventurers. Hard to be a fighting monster if you arent in shape. I think people are looking for this to be the sims in terms of character creation. It's not, will not be that.

Athletic and muscular builds, while not mutually exclusive, are not the same thing. Midlander, Miqo, Elezen, and popoto are most definitely not muscular. That said, it'd be nice if all races could have a body slider, or at least preset bodies to chose from like GW II.

Midlander and Miqo are most definitely muscular (have you seen how broad a Miqo's back is?), as are Au Ra. Elezen I would agree on more, I'd count them as athletic and somewhat slender, though their tallness offsets that to a degree. But it's the only race that comes close to any sort of androgyny.

Either way, I would rather have seen a small, slender, tough and sinewy bunny man than a roe with a cat mask.

Stop comparing the other male races to cartoonishly muscular roes. The males in this game are just varying degrees of ripped. Even if you turn the muscle tone slider down the muscles are the same size just less defined. Lalas don't count they're a joke race.

I don't know if anyone has been following the translations, however, I seen this pop up.

Itaru-san requests for more character customization options like making their character older (wrinkles). Yoshida answers by saying that the technology at tha time wasn’t advanced enough to include a lot of options for customization. Second, the body customization (fat or slim) may cause the body polygon to go haywire if they allow such option and us players will not be pleased about it. However, as said in the keynote they ARE currently challenging in allowing more options in body optimization. Not much at first but they want to gradually solve the challenge

Where did you get that male viera were going to be dainty. Nothing we have heard about them ever says they were small and dainty.

Also, I wouldn't say Au Ra females are Dainty, they are short. But still have the same proportions as midlander and Miqo'te.

I wasn't, but thanks for assuming. Literally the first thing I typed was athletic and muscular builds are not mutually exclusive, simply that those races follow an athletic build pattern, rather than a muscular one. In other words, it's like comparing a sports player, say, basketball or soccer, with a bodybuilder or a strongman, they're 'fit', but not 'big'. And redirecting once again to my second statement, body sliders or preset body types would solve it for those that don't want to be in such shape.

Elezen - lanky muscular male
Aura - lanky muscular male
Roe - ridiculously muscular male
Hrothgar - reskinned roe
Lalafell - potato

Wow so many diverse and unique options. Hrothgar really filled a niche that wasn't being satisfied before. There couldn't possibly be another race that would give them a chance to balance out the roster.
