Critique SE at will, I'm not going on against that here. I'm saying that because you want your agenda to be pushed and your own mental wishlist, then bemoan and throw tantrums because the devs decided to not do it marks you as a hormonal teenager.

They DO have the right and freedom to do what they want with their source material, be it conservative or otherwise, they own the game, they own the races and they'll make them as they see fit. Stop trying to project your worldview on a video game you don't own or have any input in developing.

Yes, myself and others are as free to criticize SE's decisions as they are to make those same decisions. Don't think that I or anyone else is going to be confused or silenced by attempts to mock and disparage our position.

My worldview is one of equality and it's telling that anyone would think it's not worthy of being shared.

That was back during 1.0 when they desperately needed to regain fans and subs trust again, it's mostly just used for---the odd community thread. They also rarely listen to or address the english forums. From what I hear the JP audience is more likely to get a response and they seem rather ambivalent to the whole affair.

If you can forward a better way to interact with the developers outside of fan fests and being even more obnoxious using real life methods, please do.

I mean, besides mailing them a seething letter disguised as a car package? not really. Or just unsub or cancel your pre-order, I think it's a silly thing to do over a cosmetic race and not over the PLETHORA of other issues(Butt capes, Game balance, Samey dungeons, Pagos and HYDATOS, lack of QoL fixes, LOADING SCREEN WHEN DIVING, all of that HUD, the fact that his forum looks like it's from 2002) but you'd be in your right to do so.

I feel like one of the good take aways from this whole hot mess is that now that they introduced the beastly cave man race that a vocal minority was asking for; whenever they inevitably add male Viera, they will now be able to add them with a more feminine or at least slightly less masculine appearance because those who wanted a manly man race should be sated at this point. Plus, when they inevitably add female Hrothgar, we should get an amazing looking beastly female character to play as.

And lore is still a weak excuse that doesn't have any weight behind it. Looking forward to male Viera and female Hrothgar in 6.0!

That still leaves the issue of people wanting to find ways to properly express why they're doing these things though. SE can probably put 2 and 2 together to realize why their subscriptions are dropping, but that doesn't address the problems people will have expressing themselves. People want an outlet when they're incensed like this, and that's another reason why the forums and Reddit have become so flushed with people. These are the best places to find like-minded people to lick wounds with, so to speak.

With all that in mind, I do also agree that all of the other things you have mentioned are definitely worth looking into. Those are all completely legitimate issues. It's just, when people say "glamour is the real end-game," that's always only said half-jokingly. People really, really care about their physical appearance in online games and how they are represented to others. And that's why this issue has exploded in its infamy against all of the other issues mentioned.

Once again, all legitimate issues. But I guess I just want to express why this issue in specific has received so much attention.

I know, I think you're well within your right to express yourself of course, you're upset and that is valid. You have a right to state that and let the developers know obviously you pay money for this service and are not happy with the changes. That isn't being entitled that's being a consumer, my statement was just in regards to this being a surefire way to see change, I just don't want anyone (especially if it's their first time) to come here and think that, get invested and then get no response. I may have been pessimistic but I do wish you all luck after all, I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't.

Severely disappointed but not surprised at the gender-locked races...female Hrothgar at this point is actually something I'd like more--but only if they actually retain a beastly look and frame, and they didn't just make...taller miqo'te ladies. But I'd also appreciate having a more svelte option for male characters as well in the form of Viera.

Anyway just adding my support. I don't expect Square Enix to be progressive in terms of gender and gender presentation but...considering how much this game means to me (or rather the people I've met through it), the gesture would mean the world to me.
