Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

It's dumb to lean on lore for the exclusion of male Viera when they themselves create the lore, but sure, it was borrowed from Matsuno so maybe he put his foot down.

Also the IP for viera belongs to SE, not Matsuno, since they’ve used the race in other games he wasn’t attached to. Please don’t pin the blame for this on Matsuno’s work.

I fully support this thread. Happy for everyone who got what they want but this inequality in opportunity is just regressive after we got so much progress.

I support male viera and female rhonso, though maybe not any rhonso at all till they make it more than roe with a cat head. But as shown with the support blu for dps thread, the only thing that will change their minds is probably years of complaints and nonstop where are male viera questions at Q&A sessions which is unlikely to happen since they started screening those questions.

I'm a new player. And when I say new, I mean I started tenatively playing when i started hearing the rumours about the Viera being implemented. So far, I'm liking the story and playstyle, but I wanted so badly to play a viera guy. when it was told that 'More informatin regarding viera would be announced later', I and many others took it and ran with it. Because there's no way a company would let the hype build up like that only to say 'nah', right?

Well. Look at that.

This decision is the opposite of the 'progressive' image this game seems to want to tout. Gender-locking a race is something I've passed over other MMO's for, and honestly, I feel like I'm going to drop this one pretty quick because I do not want to give my money to sexist companies. And, no, the 'BUt LORE!' excuse doesn't fly when, even at a low level, I see a lot of things that make me go '...what?' in this game.

Please, continue being progressive and introduce male viera and female hrothgar. Hell, focus on the male viera and scrap the hrothgar until they can be given proper beastial features and not a lion's head pasted on the Roe body!

Just here throwing out my support as well. I was very much looking forward to male Viera. It also sucks that there's now two races locked by gender. My guess is there's a reason other than lore for this, perhaps the original creator didn't want males to ever be shown, so it comes down to a respect thing. Regardless, FFXIV is not FFXII, or tactics, or any other game in the series. We've all been waiting a very long time to play as Viera, and there are some who just don't like playing female characters, for one reason or another. Part of what made FFXIV so great, in my opinion, was the freedom to be any job as any race, and which ever gender you wanted. Now it feels like that is falling away for a fairly meaningless reason.

Sorry to burst your bubble, pal, but SE isn't entitled to give you everything that you have in your personal wishlist. Yeah, it's lore reasons and probably an even bigger reason as a whole that Viera have NEVER EVER in the entire franchise had male counterparts shown or playable, what we'd get at most is CONCEPT ART. There's nothing ""sexist"" here because neither sex was put below or above the other. There's a male and a female, end of.

If they want bara men, fine. But at least make decent bara men. From what they've shown I'm not all that impressed. Like at least their faces look better than male highlanders/ roe but uh... that back... Why... And ya know if se really wanted to make some steps with the fanbase they could retexture and improve faces on several races. The pixelation on some faces are just god awful especially on highlander/roe males. And hey I see that bad pixelation on our new bara furies! Oh boy!

But quite honestly. They should have made both genders. smh.

Male Viera and female Hrothgar should not be unavailable to play as. The lore is simply an excuse to cover up their own hangups about how males and females should be designed.

One thing we can also do is continue posting art of male Viera and female Hrothgar to show that it can be done, and that they can look just as amazing.

I appreciate what you're going for here, but if you're going to use other people's art - please credit and source them. You even chopped off one person's signature from their artwork.
