That did not stop people from enjoying the game up until this point. You talk of limitations, but what about the people that want more immersion? Lore and aesthetics go a long way there. We have joke items, but they are just that... joke items.

Unsubbed already. Protest with your wallet, folks.
Well you, and everyone else with this mindset in hitting revenue aren't going to accomplish much by cancelling and staying unsubbed for the grand total of 1-3 months. It's quite the contrary, actually. For general Q&As, larger companies decide well in advance what they are going to answer and how they're going to answer it. There are usually two factors to selecting questions:
1. Is it a topic of great concern for the player base that needs to be addressed.
2. Can they reply in a positive way that sells a specific aspect of their game.
The Q&A itself is just a way to deliver news in a way that makes the community feel engaged.
My point exactly.
It's unfortunate it happened but stop being dramatic about trying to prove a point by 'boycotting'. Whether you, or anyone else unsubs or not they're still probably going to add in the male Viera, and female Hrothgar counterparts at a later date anyway.

If you don't like the direction the game is heading, and apparently gender locking classes in a fantasy game is a deal breaker for you, then by all means FFXIV probably isn't the game you are looking for either.it's not only about a "boycott" which only works in big numbers. it's also a genuine disinterest of playing a game with such limitations.
it's the reason I left Tera, it's the reason I don't play Black desert online, or any other game that has genderlocked races OR classes.
The problem is, people aren't actually leaving. And they probably won't leave. They are disappointed, but the majority never played FFXIV to have bunny-eared males, which to be fair they could have now anyway. They play for the story, the adventure, the combat or their friends.
So right now, for those complaining: either put up or shut up. If it's the end of Eorzea, unsub and move on. Otherwise let those who are hyped for this expansion and the direction of this game continue to be so without pouring salt everywhere.

I guess that's a matter of perspective. To me, the side opposing the addition of gender equality is being not just negative, but often overly toxic.
But that's not really your initial point, is it? Your initial point is that only this forum cares, and the majority outside it doesn't, which I'm fairly certain is not true. I've seen the same mainly negative reaction to the gender lock announcement in Twitch reaction streams, FC discussions, discord, and from friends. The western player base is clearly not amused.

I'm just wondering how many people are actually quitting, and how many are just blowing smoke.
Incidentally, if anyone on Cactuar is quitting and happens to be vacating a mansion plot anywhere but the Lavender Beds, I wouldn't mind a head's up......

Those are the same people.I guess that's a matter of perspective. To me, the side opposing the addition of gender equality is being not just negative, but often overly toxic.

You surround yourself with people that think like you. Of course, they are going to agree. That's certainly not the big picture. This was a huge leap forward, not only for the people that wanted more lore friendly things, but also for players coming in from others games.
