Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

I suppose not gender locking all races and future races. I support male vierra and female Hrothgar. Do not let lore from other games limit 14, not when ARR and HW took said lore and made it their own so well. Do not repeat mistakes associated with a well-liked but ultimately scrapped game (1.0). I know many female Rogadyn and male Miqote that would have been really bummed had 14 stuck to past lore so strictly.

I'm pretty sure that in the one piece of concept art that was showing, Yoshida was pretty resistant to the idea. If anything, they'd be just as large, and have just as commanding a presence, as any other male race.

Only time will tell i guess. Personally i wouldn't expect this until the next cycle of development of new content creation begins, far after Stormbringer. Lore can evolve and change over time, things within the world can cause a certain male race to be forced out of the wooded shadows...

Calamities could be the cause of the separation of a certain races female pride..... things could happen.

In a game world as big as this one, Story really does have to drive the boat; despite it not always being in the best interest of each individuals wishes or desires; the appearance of a new race or race(s) have to come with a plausible reason in a world like this.

This is one way of saying: "Dev resources were cut short, we had to make a choice; scrap Viera altogether or come up with a compromise"

This is all just speculative, but i'm trying to get inside the mindset of a developer/creator; because there is definitely a reason why there isn't a Male Viera or a Female Ronso for them to show us or be included right now; there is always a reason.

So what is that reason? It certainly isn't to deliberately tick people off; but it's at least worth the discussion; but certainly not worth the hostility or vitriol I've seen in various threads and posts.

But as I've mentioned before, there is no reason to suspect that there won't be these variants to these two races at a later time.

I think the overall mood of the community is negative, given the current situation. Hopefully SE will have to make a compromise to settle this, or it'll be an even worse catastrophe than Eureka Pagos at launch.

I don't like the whole gender lock thing itself. Never liked it in every game where it was, don't like it now and never will like because it's a silly system that should never have born in the first place.
I was glad to hear in 2.0 when they said that they will never do this again. And here we are, a gender lock comeback. What did change in these years, for what reason should we sustain such decision now?
If you add sexy female Vieras and feral male Hrothgar: well then, give us sexy males Vieras and feral females Hrothgar so everyone will be pleased with options.
I really hope they will reconsider their decision and implement them in the future even if it will be somewhere in 6.0 because it's understandable that it's a huge amount of work. And also hope they will not use lore as excuse again, because it's not an argument (we are okay with Nier raid but not okay with genders? HUH.)

Outside of this the expansion is going to be good and I am personally going to enjoy it, though I am a little bit sorry for healers who do not receive new job again.

So this was briefly mentioned but Viera are a creation of another artist. Does anyone even consider that female only Viera is a courtesy to Matsuno which he has so courteously lent his lore to? Maybe he should screw with Sakaguchi's vision of Terra. Or borrowing and screwing with 9S's lore after the 24 man without consulting Taro. FF14 is borrowing Viera at the request of the fan base and maybe just maybe there were some limitations to that.
