The people currently blackmailing Devs over cosmetics are a disgrace

Relax people, genderlock is just cosmetic. You are threatening to leave a game, its gameplay, its scenario, its community, over some lack of cosmetics...

Some people are disappointed by the fanfest. I am disappointed by how childish a part of this community is. Such an outcry for such a trivial thing...

Cosmetics are extremely important in many online games and just because it does not matter to you does not mean it is not important to someone else. It is sad that the developers are getting backlash, because if they were allowed to make male Viera they would not be in this situation. However, I feel no sympathy for them over this soundless decision and anyone complicit in making the gender lock happen is well deserving of criticism after sowing mass-discord and anger in the community.

I didnt criticize anybody's opinion. Everybody has the right to think cosmetics are a vital part of the experience... what infuriates me is the act of blackmailing the game developers, threatening to unsub, only because of a cosmetic issue. you can think cosmetics are important, still it is not the core of the game.

I'm not sure you know what blackmailing is.... because saying "I'm not happy with the current state of things, so I'm going to leave until I am happy with the current state of things" isn't blackmail.... it's part of consumerism.

Its not blackmail strictly speaking, but its still exerting pressure in order to get something. Most people currently complaining won't actually cancel their subs, they are throwing a tantrum to get something, in that way, it is blackmail-ish

Blackmailing? Really? Someone saying they are really disappointed with a certain design choice and that thus makes them want to unsubscribe is blackmailing now? I’ve also seen people say that saying you want to unsubscribe is harassment. Is this real life right now? Not wanting to continue paying for a product that has become not fun for you is not blackmail or harassment. This world has gone mad. No one is obligated to keep supporting a product they are no longer interested in until the end of time. This is business, peopke come and go based on choices companies make all the time, that’s how it works. If the definition of blackmail were actually that broad then I guarantee every person on earth would fall into the category of law breaking evildoers because literally everyone has stopped buying a certain product, stopped going to a certain restaurant, or stopped playing a game etc because they were no longer interested in what was being offered, and yes, wished the company would have done something different.

I’m not personally unsubbing over this even though I feel it’s a really poor and disappointing decision, but to try to claim that anyone who has reached their limit on disappointment and no longer wants to play is some evildoer is a bit over the top.

It's ridiculous to call people a "disgrace" just for giving feedback on something they're disappointed about. All they're doing is choosing to no longer support a company that already makes millions. Everyone has different reasons for playing this game. Just because cosmetics aren't important to you doesn't mean that they aren't important to other people. I'm someone that thinks both new races are ugly and I don't care if they're gender locked. But obviously there are a lot of people who do care and they should be allowed to speak up about it, especially since they're paying every month to play this game.

It's called "speaking with your wallet". If you're disatisfied with something a company does, a product or a decision they've made, if you're giving them your money that tells them they're doing something right because you're still giving them your money.

As an ex-EA employee I used to know told me when I used to complain about EA's poor decisions "if you don't like it, don't buy it, speak with your wallet" and then lamented that people complain about something they don't like when nobody is forcing them to buy it.

I ended up working customer service for a big electronics manufacturer for years and honestly, I could see where he was coming from. People complain, but they'll still part with their money and they'll be people who have complaints contrary to theirs. These complaints in the grand scheme of things would represent a small part of the population, because most tend not to go out and complain. So the impression given is that they're still doing something right.

A lot of the time they'll care more about customer loss than customer satisfaction. After all, they are a business and have a huge employee base to take care of. If customer disatisfaction isn't resulting in customer loss, then it's still a success.

Yo, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this drama would never have happened if they had stuck with their original plan of releasing a full Viera race that already had concept art and then releasing Hrothgar later-or sacrificing something like Eureka or limited jobs to make them happen at the same time. There were many ways for this to happen, but instead they chose the laziest and most misguided way of doing things. This starts and ends with their bad decision making.
