Can anyone post/translate JP’s reaction to all of this I’m curious to see how they feel about this.

From what I've seen on twitter they enjoyed the bulk of the keynote but aren't keen on genderlocked races. Even seeing Korean players are upset about the locks (one artist I follow is lamenting that they don't speak english enough to post on the forums but have linked the big Gender Locked Race? thread for others to post), which is pretty interesting considering how gender locks frequently appear in KMMOs.

It's been around four hours since the livestream, and the first post has 136 likes as of right now. I would say it's a little more than just a "few" players lol

I know there'll be complaints about "the official forums don't really represent the majority of the playerbase" and "the amount of likes on a post and comments on a thread don't really mean anything" but the fact that so many long-time players are joining the forums NOW to express their discomfort...THAT is telling.

Canceled preorder over it. I don't pay for unfinished garbage. There is no acceptable excuse for this. You made Miqo'te males 'rare' but here we are, male and playable. Your hiding behind lore is a pathetic cowardly excuse for not wanting to accommodate for males.

I will not buy this expansion because of both the lack of healers and the lack of female Lions and Male bunnies.

If they fix it? I'll buy. But as it is? I'm not going to reward bad behavior with ADDITIONAL money. I'm not quitting, but I'm definitely not pre-ordering or buying that expansion now. You might not listen to me, or anyone else in this thread but if enough people unsub or cancel preorders, they'll have to notice. It works with Blizzard, it works here too.

Would be overjoyed to play as a male Viera if it followed the concept art done back from Heavensward and while I would not pick a Hrothgar myself as I have seen there are many people who would take both the male and female if the option was there. So please, allow the players the option to these races and if you need a lore reason well you openly gave yourselves an out with "Source" and "First" what is rare in one dimension could be common in another.

/signed Male Viera. Female Hrothgar. Very disappointed at the announcement, but I still love this game. Here's to hoping that their whole "final races" set-up was just an excuse to actually release two races over the course of two expansions. Half of them now and half of them later.
Gender-locks are a thing of the past and trashy F2P mmos. FFXIV is better than this.
