Not to mention they made only female viera and only hrothgar males they balance out it's not like there are more Male races or females race's so they balance out.

best case scenario they will fill them in at 6.0Personally just holding onto a sliver of hope that they'll surprise us with the races not really being gender locked. Or at least some mention of them opening up in like 5.2. Kinda annoying if that's the case but maybe they just need a little more time? Or could be that denial and this is indeed cemented. I'm with everyone else on how this is a one step forward, several steps back kind of deal.
personally i wouldnt have mind them going
"ok these guys will be gender locked for now but come 5..6.what ever we will add male/female etc etc"
definitely would have been less of a outrage turning into "well its better than nothing they are at least confirmed"

I said this in the giant Male bunny salt thread, but I honestly think they decided to cut across gender lines (I am betting even temporarily but they are not willing to make promises on the missing genders atm) and appeal to the people who wanted Viera AND the people who wanted bestial races. Both have been screaming since HW came. I don't think it's about excluding people, but trying to include the people they thought were really going to play these from the beginning and perhaps spend time rendering the others later. Since, two full races is a lot to ask for in an expansion.
There is like a 1% play rate of female roes, and male miqos arent as rare but are severely outnumbered by female. I really think this was the logic, but I know people want it to be a commentary on gender roles of today. /shrug

there is no actual male viera in any game. They could have just called hrothgar male viera if they wanted to
Would that have solved the problem?

I agree, I just think they actually didn't to avoid digging a hole in which they can't fill a confirmed promise? If that makes sense? But I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case. Saves them legwork of creating something new later anyway and eventually everyone is happy until someone else complains.best case scenario they will fill them in at 6.0

I think that Male Viera became something of a 'mystery box' for everybody that wanted a new male race. You know, the whole saying goes like.
"Male Bara Furry is boring, but this mystery box? It could be anything!"
People, because of the leak, already knew what they were getting out of Hrothgar, there was no mystery in there. But with Male Viera, they were able to sort of fill in the blank on this ambiguous, not confirmed, barely mentioned mysterious thing with whatever arbitrary desires they had for a new male race. If you talk to 10 different Male Viera requesters, I guarantee you that you'll get at least four to five different concepts of what it could be, or what it could look like. Because people were basically just going wild with speculation and filling the mystery box with their perfect dream race.
Hence the crushing disappointment, I guess.
I, for one, am pretty pleased with everything announced at Fanfest. I'll also admit that all the people wanting to pilot a character with the same body type as Alphinauld, a canonical teenager, made me a little uncomfortable.
There's other races, guys. It'll be ok. Just do like I did when Isaac was deconfirmed for Smash Ultimate, be happy for what you have, find something new to be excited about, and move on with your lives.

I honestly couldn't care less about the genderlock. Many MANY other games have playable races that have males in their lore, but the male part of that race is not playable and it makes that race more...unique, I guess? Either way, every race does not NEED to have both genders be playable, for the sake of all that is holy leave it alone. Its Square's game, its Square's lore. Let them drive it into the dirt if they want to. But each Final Fantasy game has more or less taken place in its own universe. And the fact that the new races are just callbacks to different games and not the original races means they are...totally different races! Which also means, by the gods, they have totally different lore!

Sorry but no I don't feel these kinds of restrictions should be in place. I don't think it's the lack of males that makes Viera unique, for me its more their spirituality and fierce beauty that compliments one of my character's personalities quite well, so I changed her to Viera. They fit a fantasy that I wish Elezen fit in this game, to be quite honest. I'd love to be able to make a male that's equally as elegant and fierce as she is.

Also, this is a Final Fantasy game and nothing is really ever the same between games anyway. It's not like Warcraft where all of the games take place in a single canon universe. There's zero reason they couldn't have had male viera due to lore reasons because that lore pertains to other FF titles and had to be written again fresh for FFXIV.But they didn't stay true to their lore. Hrothgar are ronso. Ronso are from FFX. There are female and male ronso everywhere out in the open in that game. There is zero gender-based segregation for the ronso in FFX. But for some reason there is in FFXIV.
So sorry no you're wrong. SE aren't staying true to lore. They're cherry-picking when to do so.
EDIT: and let me remind some of you of how in lore male miqos are rare but they're playable anyway since 2.0.
The biggest thing is the fact in 1.0 people were upset at genderlock
and released the fem Roe, fem Highlander and male Miqo in 2.0.
Everyone was happy to be free from genderlock nonsense.
Genderlock is so Korean MMO crap and we're sick of it.
But with all these restrictions and lack of customization with the Ronso and Viera...
It's very apparent that they rushed these two out the door...
I think after or IF they release the other genders of the two. That's it, no more.
Please work on the current of all races and expand from them. We need it.
