Considering I'm an older player than all of you, I don't think SE is going to be losing too many old players. I think they're only going to be losing people that never really cared about FF to begin with.

I've played every single main FF game from I to XV, played all the Tactics spin-offs, 4 Heroes of Light, Bravely Default, World of FF, the mobile games, own Advent Children twice (Original and Complete), own Spirits Within, and Kingsglaive. I'm considering unsubbing because gender-locks are an absurd decision, does that negate all the love I had for the series?

I really hate the "no true fan" argument because it's really a "no true scotsman" fallacy disguised with more sentimentalism.

How did you ever play all those games when you were forced into having certain races as certain genders? Like, I can't believe it!

Single player games by and large have set narratives where you play as an established character. MMOs, on the other hand, are set up in teh fashion you create the character you want to be mainly as a self insert or similar device.

Most people are fine with the single player aspect where you play as a pre-established character (and even single player games are branching more out into being able to choose gender). Its when you gender lock an MMO which is set up where your character is a lot more 'blank slate', it matters more.


As for people unsubbing, I think its kinda silly, but its their money and their time. If they dont want to play teh game because they introduced something they dont agree with, thats fine. I dont see that as childish in any sense. If anything, calling someone who is unsatisfied with a product and choosing no longer to support it childish is kinda silly. People are free to spend their money and time on what they want. You may not have to agree with hwo they spend it, but its their money and time. But I think its anything but childish to make decisions about how you spend your time and money. Not sure how exercising your ability to make decisions is childish. It's not like theyre taking anything away from people who are choosing to stay, and youre not obligated to read any thread regarding the topic either. So, really, whats the issue here?

why was it ok for every other ff game you played in your life? You realize more races is a cost right? Would you rather one race released with two genders? What if the budget only is alotted for 2 new models? What if male vierras looked like cats? would that be ok?

you are free to do what you want, and you can be a true fan, but im not sure why having access to a race/gender that never existed when bought the game, is a deal breaker. They literalky give you more options for creating a charachter, that should be a good thing for people who want more charachter creation options.

I feel like people forget it is ultimately SE's choice as to what they add and what they do not add. It is really getting old seeing these childish posts. Be glad none of you that are complaining played MMO's back in the 90's. Races/classes were locked behind more than just gender. I could only imagine the hissy fits that there would be.
