I mean, no matter what you wanted to be your specific character, the reintroduction of genderlocking was probably the worst case scenario from a player freedom standpoint.

1.0 didn't fail because because of gender locked races. It failed because it was bad.

You can put a horn on the new Hrothgar race if you use the bards Horn of the Last Unicorn, or play a summoner :P

well they showed the khimari like hrothgar which had the biggest beard we have had so far that isnt santa item
