I know at least one more player here that is around 70 and back when i was playing Aion there have been several players 50+. Its a hobby for them and i think every grandchild would think its cool if their grandma or grandpa could play with them. I would've had my fun if it would've been my grandparents.

I think this is the one of the friendliest, and most interesting discussions I have ever seen anywhere..ever...on the entire internet (not that I've seen it all, really I have standards!). I had the crappiest day today...not ever, But close! I will now go curl up in a ball of floofy contentment after checking in here xD

I'm 76 years old. Started this game in late Sigmascape and was able to clear Alphascape in early January. If I can do it, anyone can.

I will be 72 in May and am retired. Most of my time is spent in game as I have severe COPD and don't get around much. On the whole I have met friendly ppl in game who help make my experience a pleasurable one.

I, at 51, also find it amusing that many in their 30's think of themselves as old. Honey, you haven't even BEGUN to start feeling the effects of age yet. Get back to me when you hit 40.

I am surprised to hear of some much older than me that play. The oldest I have actually met in game was 54. Most people I hang out with are in their 30's. I actually rarely meet people younger for some reason.

Now what I REALLY want to know is how many of those above 50 can ACTUALLY still use a keyboard/mouse combo for hours on end and not have their hands throbbing afterwards?

It's the main reason I switched to a controller for all game playing in my 40's and I have never looked back. It's just sooooo much more convenient.

I can remember joining FFXI in my 30's and having all the young'ens around me and feeling both young and old. Now that I'm closing in on 50 and they are all where I was then.... I still feel both young and old. Sure, my knees are louder going up the stairs, but I still feel the same joy playing I did then.

There was someone in their 50's I used to play with back in the olden times. I am not certain where he went. It wasn't to FFXIV But I'm certain if he can, he's still playing something.

And I've always played controller. I started XI when the PC version came out, but that's because the hubby wanted to switch to PC and so I learned the game on his abandoned PS2. I've tried K/M, but that's apparently broken on all my machines 'cause it no work. LOL I cant help help with that question.

    This is so nice!

My husband is 40 and I'm 39. We've been playing together since we got married right after high school. I was not a gamer at first. My husband was a gamer and would always be on his consoles or computer. Instead of scoffing at him and resenting, I decided to try it out. Have not looked back since!

We've played several games since then. PSO was our first MMO. Then we got into FFXI and played that for 6 years. I managed to get into the alpha/beta for FFXIV both times. There's plenty of other games in between.

We play with our oldest son now as well as other in real life friends. Not many people speak of age so it's nice to know there are several people of different generations enjoying the same content! <3

57, mouse and keyboard, raid 3 nights/week and play more than I should on weekends. Best thing is when my mouse needed to be replaced the sales guy at the store made a comment about how he wished his mother would buy that model for him. My reply: "This is for me, not my son... now where do you stock the 1080s? I think I want to upgrade my card too and raid starts at 9 so this has to be fast." Made a new friend that day.

Turned 60 on my last birthday. Looks like I'm clearly not the oldest one in the room
Use mouse/keyboard 95% the time. 5% I use a controller - controller has never really stuck with me. I've also become a fan of the computer gloves, like the IMAK one.

Like others I play with irl family & friends but have made many friends in the game. IRL all the gamers I know less than 25 don't play FFXIV - in my experience this tends to be an older crowd anyway.

I love this thread. It's nice to know that there are gamers of all ages playing this game. I would love to still be a gamer in my retirement.
