Best guide/advice for noob DoH?

I'm currently a level 30 weaver and i'm wanting to know what gear to wear and what skills to use to maximize HQ percentage i'm on the level 30 quest to make the velveteen gaiters

Have you L15 on the other crafts? Important cross class skills come in at 15.

The velveteen set is L 28 - 30. If you have your cross class skills and up to date tools you should be able to HQ it.

I read it and it was of very little use to me didn't help much. The only thing thats currently helping is what you said If I have cross class skills which I don't so i've been leveling them

To get any craft to 15 just do every recipe once. The guild shop sells everything you need, except the cooking guild doesn't stock fish, you buy fish at the hyaline just off the aftcastle. The guild quests provide more than enough shards. Check with the local levemete before you dispose of the stuff you crafted, some of it will be levequest fodder.
