I'm aware some people subscribe to that thinking, but I was commenting specifically on the idea that viera females are just there as a straight guy fantasy pick, when I know for a fact that plenty of women also play the attractive female options.
I tend to approach my character design from the viewpoint of how I visualise their particular concept. I won't lie - since it's a fantasy game, I like making them attractive.
But a lot of people seem to design characters based on the two lines of thinking I mentioned.

Seven fates foretold. Yet at the end of the broken path lie gender locks, and gender locks alone!

I swear to god if they're gender locked I'm going to be so grumpy - I wouldn't be able to watch the rest of fanfest because I'd be too busy having a tantrum.
It would certainly damper my mood for the night might prevent sleep as i can't sleep if grumpy and i would be too anxious to not watch the stream at the time it is for me. Please SE give us bunbois and if Hrothgar are a thing gives us female Hrothgar please no gender lock ;_;

That was meant to be more of a dig at options in MMOs, sorry if it seemed like I was nitpicking your post. Plenty of women do like to play sexy bombshells but a lot of us like to play things that are practically nonexistent, or at the very least less common, because of the (not even all that true) perception that guys aren't interested in playing them. I've been burned pretty hard by over a decade of hopping from f2p garbage MMO to f2p garbage MMO and I don't want to see genderlocks make their way into one of the few games I found mostly refreshing in this regard. Especially when it involves such a pretty race like Viera and (we assume) a buff, powerful looking beast race. ;;
I'm still very excited for fanfest. I will be mega bummed if we get hit with a gender lock reveal but I've been bracing myself for it for months and I can tough it out. I just won't stop griping about it is all.

Ditto. There's a lot more stuff I'm looking forward to, so I'll no doubt be annoyed about the gender lock but I won't let it hinder me from enjoying the rest.
When the game's story becomes self-aware:

I hope we won't get the BLU moment like in US fanfest, where the audiences were so hyped up at the beginning and during the BLU reveal. Then they started revealing more info about BLU and the atmosphere changed almost 180.
Imagine if they will reveal about the other new job first then some info about the 8-man raid, the audiences get hyped up, then they announce that viera is gender-locked....
