I've always loved Matoya's Cave.
The remix of it in ffxiv has been my houses music ever since it came out

Can I just say thank you for appreciating Lost Odyssey, I feel like I'm the only person who played and loved it.So I'm a long time fan of listening to OSTs, especially game soundtracks - I'm curious what has been peoples favourite soundtracks from the Final Fantasy series? What do you like about that specific track?
Beyond Final Fantasy what other soundtracks have caught your attention, and again, what about that specific piece has you playing it on repeat?
Here's mine, I'll add more as the discussion develops - if it develops haha.
1.Revenge Twofold
2.Equilibrium - Sophia
3.Fiend - Sephirot
5.Hellfire - FF15 (Hottest Ifrit to ever Ifrit)
6.The Gun Barrel of Battle -Lost Odyssey (Nobuo Uematsu)
In regards to what I posted; these tracks all seem to have something similar beyond Sophia, epic 'hype' music that keeps me on my toes. They make amazing music to imagine an epic battle. I find Equilibrium to be a lot more 'calming' than hype. Fiend will always break my heart for just not being on the damned bird. Of course, these are just a few that I 'adore' and there's certainly more I rock when I'm in an imagination 'stump' when it comes to writing - or to make any mundane task epic. Listen to Hellfire while doing household chores - feel like a badass.
So, what are your favourite jams?
Neat idea, here's some of my favorites from across the series:
FF1: It'd be weird if it were anything but Prelude but Inside a Boss Battle is also quite a good track
FF2: What's that?
FF3: The Boundless Ocean
FF4: I mean it's one of the greatest pieces of music on the SNES, Red Wings but I'd also like to gives special notice to the Four Fiends music as being one of the first boss themes that got me really hyped up to fight something and inspired this remix by Hyadain from the Youtube stone age.
FF5: Home, Sweet Home is a personal favorite. Also hats off to Battle on the Big Bridge for cementing itself as a staple Final Fantasy song remixed and reused almost as often as Prelude; it's just that good.
FF6: Almost too many to list. IMO best FF and carried some of the best music of the series. Special mention to Cyan's Theme which still gives me chills when it starts up to this day. Protect the Espers was and still is a great track for fighting a war (or what passed for one in the 90s). Slam Shuffle delivered fantastic atmosphere to Zozo and conveyed almost by itself what kind of place you were walking in to. Battle to the Death remains one of my favorite boss themes.
I could go on and on but I think this is a good start.
Anything by Hamauzu; especially The Vestige and The Gapra Whitewood from the FFXIII soundtrack. (His only-slightly-FF-related 'Imeruat' works are also brilliant)
FFX is my favourite Final Fantasy, was my first, and, as a result, the one whose music touched me the most so I'll just list a few from it! Of course, a disclaimer: I prefer the original tunes to that of the remaster (played the remaster with the original music honestly).
i.) People of the Far North is absolutely emotional and carries the story with it unfathomably well. It's one of those songs I listen to over and over again because it has so much soul and ache.
ii.) Wandering Flame similarly sounds so heart-wrenching. It's hauntingly gorgeous and again, I feel like most of the music in X just embodied its story. This one is so somber and reflective, it feels like the tail-end of fall.
iii.) Besaid Island is one I think was already mentioned in this thread and honestly this track is fire. I remember being 10-years-old sitting down in my school uniform running around Besaid all bright-eyed and genuinely excited to play this game with this track playing in the background. Hearing this reminds me of the first time I played this game.
iv.) Tidus' Theme is also full of nostalgia for me. If his theme catches me at the right time I'll just start bawling. Makes me reflect on the whole game from beginning to end.
Same here. I buy any game that has a Hamauzu OST. I've been listening to that guy all my life dating back from Saga Frontier II all the way to Alliance Alive.
Was going to post the same thing. For me nothing beats The Extreme.
Also like the title theme from FF9.

Chiming in again to bring another very memorable track for the FFXI players. This one from the expansion 'Chains of Promathia'. This was the final expansion that I played all the way through before I hung things up in ToAU. I did try to make a comeback with WoTG, but it just didn't work out. CoP was such an amazing expansion and set the bar that has yet to be hurdled. Heavensward is a close second, but just could not replicate the same feelings, but I allowed for HW to stand on its own because they just can't really be compared. Two different games. Two different eras. I have to be fair to HW. Nothing will ever be able to replicate experiences from FFXI.
Those who remember the Promyvions will know exactly what I am talking about. These series of instances made you feel you were in a dream-like state and had you question which direction faces up. The threat level was also very high, and would even give you that kind of feeling of trying to run, but not getting anywhere. The music captured this so brilliantly. Even now, trying to explain it; it's like trying to explain a dream after waking up, and like trying to cup water in your hands, the fragments just drain right on through:
FFXI The Promyvions - Faded Memories
Extended version for your listening pleasure.
Some of my favorites?
From FF7:
Cid's Theme
Judgement Day
The Birth of God
From FF9:
Boss Battle
Mystery Sword (Beatrix)
Assault of the Silver Dragons
Memoria
From FFX:
To Zanarkand
Besaid Island
Mt. Gagazet
Challenge
Seymour (Final) Battle
Looking these up sent me on a trip through some serious nostalgia. Looks like I've got some more playthroughs to do in the near future.
