Favourite OSTs from the Final Fantasy Universe?

So I'm a long time fan of listening to OSTs, especially game soundtracks - I'm curious what has been peoples favourite soundtracks from the Final Fantasy series? What do you like about that specific track?

Beyond Final Fantasy what other soundtracks have caught your attention, and again, what about that specific piece has you playing it on repeat?

Here's mine, I'll add more as the discussion develops - if it develops haha.

    1.Revenge Twofold
    2.Equilibrium - Sophia
    3.Fiend - Sephirot
4.Hellfire - FF15 (Hottest Ifrit to ever Ifrit)
5.The Gun Barrel of Battle -Lost Odyssey (Nobuo Uematsu)

In regards to what I posted; these tracks all seem to have something similar beyond Sophia, epic 'hype' music that keeps me on my toes. They make amazing music to imagine an epic battle. I find Equilibrium to be a lot more 'calming' than hype. Fiend will always break my heart for just not being on the damned bird. Of course, these are just a few that I 'adore' and there's certainly more I rock when I'm in an imagination 'stump' when it comes to writing - or to make any mundane task epic. Listen to Hellfire while doing household chores - feel like a badass.

So, what are your favourite jams?

I'm going to force myself to keep to one song per game, because if I don't the entirety of my favorite's list might well be from FFVI and FFIX. So I decided to pick one favorite song from all the game's I've played, in no particular order.

    - Cyan's Theme (FFVI). I've been in love with the track since I first played FF6 on the Anthology disc for the original playstation, and just about cried the first time I heard it playing in FF14 as Hien's theme.
    - Down the Up Staircase (FFXIV) This was my defactor room music for two years.
    - You're Not Alone (FFIX) This song still makes me ugly cry whenever I hear it. I don't want to spoil the moment it accompanies, but for me it was the culmination of the entire FFIX and it's overarching themes of loneliness and friendship. If I had to rank these songs, this would be in the first spot, and I doubt anything will actually stop it.
    - Distant World's Fisherman's Horizen (FFVIII) Probably the only thing I have glowing feelings towards FFVIII for is it's music, and nothing beats this remix from Distant World's for me. I could listen to it for hours and never grow bored.
    - Battle on the Big Bridge (FFV) Okay so it's a Black Mages remix, they still are semi-official so it counts.
    - Someday the Dream Will End (FFX) I don't think I need to justify this one.
    - Aerith's Theme (FFVII) It's odd, I love FFVII's soundtrack but picking a favorite is pretty damn impossible for me. So I just went with the first that popped into my head.
    - Eternity: Memory and Lightwaves (FFX-2) I could listen to this forever.

I can't really pick any from FF12 or FF13 sadly... FF12 because I legit cannot recall any songs from that game that were memorable enough to stick, save the Rabanastre theme but that's because you spend so long there - and with FF13 I just genuinely didn't like most of the soundtrack.

Oh man, there's so many good songs, it is hard to pick one. I'll try to keep it to a few but, off of the top of my head ...

    FFXIV:
    1. Sophia - "Equilibium"
I love her voice, it sounds really cute and unique. Also, Sophia is my fave boss design and it's a really fun fight.
    2. Shiva - "Footsteps in the Snow"
    3. O12S - "From the Heavens"
For Shiva and O12S, I generally like epic-sounding boss themes like these. I could sit back and let my mind wander. Or maybe even come up with a new idea or answer for various projects that I'm working on.
    4. Azys Lla Theme - "Order Yet Undeciphered"
This theme is so catchy and the bass is amazing. It's one of the few rare zones where I would stop everything I'm doing for a while just to listen.
    5. Papaya
    This song is sooooo catchy.

    From other FF games ...

FF Type-0 - "Three Hours that Changed the World"
Like Shiva and O12S theme, this song makes me daydream like crazy. Plus, it sounds really chaotic and epic. Sometimes, I wished it was longer.
    FFVII - "Aerith's Theme"
This song is nostalgic as hell. Every time I hear it, I remember back to my childhood days, which has a lot of good memories.
    FFXV - "Wanderlust"
I wish this song played more often in the overworld. It's really pretty and probably my fave song out of this whole game.

I guess, something that all of these songs have in common is, they take my mind to places where it normally can't go. I'm also really imaginative so music can paint an entirely alien world in my head that I can later hopefully try to create and share. I guess that's a really long way of saying "inspiration." Lol

    Oh yikes... there's so many tracks I love or am just seriously nostalgic about when it comes to Final Fantasy games. I'll post some but I'm probably gonna forget a lot;

    I'm going to start with...

    1. FFIX Kingdom of Burmecia I can't get over the atmosphere of this place and music... its just... I can't even describe it! Nothing else has ever quite had the same atmosphere to me.

    2. FFVIII The Salt Flats Again, more atmosphere that really stood out to me.

    3. FFVII Those Who Fight Further Well...obviously.

    4. FFVI Terra's Theme/World Map From one of my favourite FF games.

    5. The series Final Fantasy Main Theme Honestly so nostalgic. Does this play anywhere in FFXIV?

There are so many more, including a few from FFX.

When it comes to FFXIV I like a lot of the music, mostly primal themes.

    Edit: Forgot to mention Answers!

Yes, there are several versions that appear in FFXIV actually - the first version is an arrangement by Masayoshi Soken called A World Apart and plays during several cutscenes (the first time fairly early in ARR when your character boards an airship for the first time).

The second version is actually from the original version of FFXIV (version 1.0) that was arranged specifically by Nobuo Uematsu, called Opening Theme (it was the track that played when you created your character in FFXIV 1.0, as well as appearing on SE's original teaser site for 1.0 back when it was first announced in 2009). In ARR so far it's only shown up in the original ARR ending theme (fittingly), during the part where the 'Meteor Survivors' (that is, Legacy Members) are listed in the credits.

Either way, they're available on the A Realm Reborn and Before Meteor OST albums respectively.

Thanks, I had totally forgotten about it playing in that cutscene for some reason. o.O

    1. FFXIV - Sophia's theme - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knV-5VciTTQ I can listen all day and still love it

    2. FFDissidia Duodecim - Cantata Mortis and God in Fire https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4Z3_9ub2tU has to have both parts and why couldn't this have been Chaos's theme in ffxiv >_<

    3. Bravely Default - Serpent eating the ground - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLBTIUzPpEQ Love the incorporation of the character themes it feels like a final boss theme

    4. Lost Odyssey - Roar of the Departed Souls - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1x_udEq5YM Crazy theme for a crazy man that was so satisfying beating up

    5. Persona 5 - Life Will Change - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tk2eUGISZpk i just love it

This one is amazing and I wished we had an Ultimecia's Castle raid with that theme. From the same game: The Man with the Machine Gun.
