    Thank you for all the responses! The fact that it hasn't been answered in game is probably why I've been having difficulty finding answers haha.

    I've noticed they make a lot of comments about their pom aching or freaking out at the thought of you touching it as well, so I like the idea that it is a sensory organ of sorts! Or maybe, since it's balloon like, it helps them stay afloat (via magic or something)? Those tiny little wings couldn't keep them afloat imo...

    One of the moogle beast tribe quests also has one moogle (during the 'free kupo nuts' quest) talk about making his pom nice and fluffy, I think. It definitely looks like a balloon though...

    Basically they're regular video presentations (every few months or so) where the producer shows off new and upcoming things for the game. They're usually in Japanese without an official English translation provided, so not quite as big a deal as they could be, but of course there are fan translations.

    The next one will be at Tokyo Fan Fest on March 23.
