im sure they could limit it to like 5 or 10in order to have a travel/ipod orchestrion the music you have available to you would have to be loaded into every zone you're in. there's a reason why orchestrions are restricted in their placement.
Also there are a limited amount of "slots" available for mounts and their music. this is why most of them only have the generic theme. Soken can switch it up but he needs ample reason and demand to do so.
as your "favorites" and can play them when ever outside of duties
or just have customizable mount music
I was thinking this the other day - the mount orchestrion, that is - but figured it wouldn't work because the sheer amount of weight it would add to the servers, for each and every player to have at least 8 tunes on the mount.
However, if that wasn't a problem, I'd love this. I see it sort of like it's linkpearls tuned to a frequency in line with our home orchestrions, somehow using the mount as a sort of antenna (otherwise it could be argued you could listen almost anywhere, anytime). Failing that, it's a small portable orchestrion akin to a Walkman.
Of course, you could always just bypass all of this server load bobbins, and cue up YouTube's store of music (or whatever service you prefer) when on the mount, or indeed, any other time you need change of musical scenery. I can certainly attest to the fact there is nothing better for this nervous tank than some David Bowie.
even if it was 5 or 10 - having to load that for every player in the zone at all times all across the server? sure fire way to crash everything.
Personally, I never like the mount music, so I turned it off. I can tolerate the zone music more, but the standard chocobo one?
Please..No, just, no.
And while it would be an awesome implementation, as someone stated earlier, it would use up a lot of resources, resources that could, ya know, be used to provide us with Ishgardian housing.
I WANT MY SNOWY HOUSE SE!!
I've made the suggestion before that we have a magitek mount (or the upcoming regalia would be great) that has an orchestrion feature. And if you limit it to non-multi mounts (sorry, regalia) the music would only be client-side, and that should mean no strain on their servers.
Ahh! Well then! I cast my vote in!
They could have it be something loaded locally instead of on the server, seeing as it would act like a a personal music player.
It's nothing to do with the hardware, the game is still running on an engine which was quickly put together and had to run on PS3. No matter how much you upgrade the physical servers you can't just override the limits of a nearly 6 year old client.
