Can we report the Baldesion Arsenal discord group?

I wont name names, but some of these people who are vehemently anti-Discord that have been on the Discord were kicked for being a**holes and breaking the Discord rules. Such as going into ruin other groups runs with the sole intent of harming the run and harassing other players. Others are upset that the queues take a while, which is understandable. More people are learning, too afraid to lead, or just not playing tank. This is why I HEAVILY recommend checking out the Discord before making assumptions based on what others say.

I'm not saying all the things said about the discords is true, I suspect a lot of it is false or greatly out of context. However the discords have done an appalling job with there PR and plenty of people complaining about the people pugging have themselves sound extremely toxic, which in turn makes the discords look like they will also be rather toxic and I can why people are very reluctant to join. While this image is likely to be unfair, the people from within the discords have helped project a negative image of the discords.

It's not for the threads being biased is more about how people express their hate towards other players even if they are recently joined players who not know the mechanics or by mistake want to try new content.

Except this thread has never hated on players that want to learn BA, nor do the Discords. The Aether one specifically gives out the link to its Discord in every instance where people ask about BA. The Discord wants to help players, but they are under no obligation to help those who refuse to join the Discord, nor cooperate with those who insist "these are my portals, you toxic elitists, and this is MY CONTENT". Even with the latter, the Discord admins strongly discourage and police harassment.

BA is a cooperative effort. The game tells us as much when you unlock it. Failure to cooperate means you will fail to clear.


Your failure to comprehend all of this is what makes you little more than an echo chamber for biased opinions that want to twist the truth to fuel their own hateful arguments. It also displays how willfully ignorant you are choosing to be.

On the contrary surely will tell others about my experiences within Eureka instance shout channel and will indicate this thread and others threads related to the subject on the forum.

Your experiences where you haven't actually done BA? "This is what the content is like, but I've never actually done it" doesn't hold much credibility, in my opinion.

It's sad that you will try to willfully misconstrue and misrepresent things you know nothing about. That is what true toxicity is. Not the BA groups or the Discords that you seem intent to hate for little reason other than "I read that they were bad people, and since it was on the internet, it must be true".

This forum thread among others related to the subject do portrait well whats the players attitude towards players that aren't aware of the full mechanics and do use the portals with no intention to steal them but to try the new content am so sorry my opinion offends you or your discord magical group, it doesn't change the fact how your attitude reflects here in the forum.
If you were so innocent players wouldn't even be here complaining about harassment on your part so yes this thread will be a good reference in the future.

Except the Discords (as a majority) do not harass those that want to learn unless they refuse to cooperate. There are bad apples, but they are not as wide-spread as you want people to believe they are. The fact that you continue to deny how they try to help new players to BA shows again that you would rather be a sheep to this hateful "anti-Discord" crusade without actually seeing if they're as evil as people claim. Which is honestly quite sad.

People that try to join in on AV or Ozma clears when they have never been into the dungeon are the same as players who attempt to join clear of farm parties for Ex or Savage. They have no idea about the mechanics and they do not belong there. They belong in the learning groups (which tend to be fragment runs for BA, and there are AV prog and Ozma prog groups as well) so that they can learn. Attempting to earn their BA clear through being carried by the rest of the group inside is disrespectful.

If these players have so little respect for the groups that are just trying to organize runs for easy clears and farming, pray tell why they should earn any respect themselves. For all the threads you've read, you've clearly failed to ask WHY players that support the Discords tend to have such negative opinions if those who are anti-Discord. I can say that a lot of the anti-Discord players I have met are some of the worst in terms of attitude because they refuse to cooperate and respect other players. All because "this is MY PORTAL and MY CONTENT". Again, I ask you, why are players like that deserving of respect?

Hi there, I'm an admin of the Aether BA discord (I made the queue bot!). The issue is that people will ignore kind and helpful PR responses and plug their ears, screaming about how negative we are instead. A perfect example of this is my post waaaaaay back on Page 8 (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post4903119). It outlines the rules we have in place, apologizes for any issues, and recommends contacting me directly if you have any issues with people in the discord so we can get it sorted out. Guess how many replies it got or messages I received?

I'm not saying people from the discord are saints, no one is. But if someone in the discord is harassing, breaking TOS, or being a jerk, they are dealt with swiftly when we are notified.

Also, discord is available on every platform including PS4 - You can use the ingame browser to view text chat while your game is open. "Not being able to use discord" is not an excuse - If you can play FFXIV, you can use discord. There are no exceptions.

Yes but you'd still have to close the game screen to switch over to the browser itself. Making you blind.

You'd only need discord for the set-up portion - Once you're in the party ingame, most (if not all) coordination can be done through party chat, since each party has a leader who is in communication with the others. To be clear for others, you don't need to "close" FFXIV, you just can't have FFXIV and discord on one screen at the same time. It's not an issue with what I said above, though.

It's all good! I'm sure there are rude people in the discord, but unfortunately they're usually the more vocal minority or the people who stick in people's minds more. These are the people we'd like to get rid of. And yeah, I get that - I can only recommend that everyone joins the discord and sees it for themselves, instead of judging he-said/she-said from others. =/

It's an open public discord with no restrictions on joining. As such anyone can join. And since anyone can join, some "toxic" type players can join to. Just because some "toxic" players might join does not make an open discord server that is trying help toxic itself. If an open platform is toxic because some toxic people joined, then FF14 itself is toxic, these forums are toxic, facebook is toxic, twitter is toxic, the internet is toxic. Time to get off the internet and never get back on.

Looking through these various threads that's not really true, as while you have people making the discords sound nice, you then have people claiming to be from the discords join in saying things that make the discords sound like really unpleasant places. If everyone was like you lay out there then we would have a lot less of these threads.

I don't think AnnaMolly is saying that bad incidents don't happen, nor do I think they don't sympathize with those who truly have bad experiences. I think they're merely saying that, regardless, there will always be those who like to exaggerate and blow things out of proportion. Especially on these forums. It happens a lot around here.
