they wouldnt, they would say that any mmo that doesnt have a genderless race is sexist or something and force every video game from now til the end of time to include one or be endlessly attacked on social media.

Where do you see this happening though? We've had genderless races before in final fantasy and the world hasn't come crashing down as a result. I think you're creating monsters for yourself. Other games have races with unique gender concepts and it hasn't caused a giant "SJW" demand for all future games to have them.

I don't think they were arguing what it is meant to describe but that it is used so loosely by some people that it ends of feeling like it means very little beyond an attempt to insult (SJW). Like alt right or the isms/ists or hate words like misandry or misogyny. They've become like an insult to pepper in as a seasoning rather than a description in many cases, instead of calling someone an annoying popoto they might use the above options and that's a bit sad.

All of those words clearly have an important context so I suppose it's good to know what they mean but in a productive conversation they should probably be handled with extreme care (and they're usually not).

Anyway little sad the thread moved into we can't have a genderless race because it'll be misused by X or Y group. I hope SE does not fear doing something just because some group will take it to an extreme for political reasons. Nuance to tell a story is fun, a genderless race would have different cultures and likely a different appearance - that may be interesting avenue to explore and what that means. SE doesn't need to stuff any ideology into anyone's face to do that.

Hopefully people could just go back to the idea of a genderless race and not what our real life may do with that (it's fine if you don't think it'd be interesting, don't mean to say people need to agree with that lol). Anyway I can't cast magic in real life either.

The galka technically don't have a gender, they are just referred to as male for convenience sake. There's also the Qu from FF9.

Yes, couldn't agree more. We shouldn't let political stuff like this infringe on creative freedom. I've heard it from both sides at this point. Some people will complain if certain groups get more representation in games because they see it as pandering (just because it doesn't pander to them specifically), but we have other people still who'll complain if they don't get representation in games, as if they're owed that or something. Both groups are being stifling in their own way.


If the writers wanted to add a genderless race to the lore, they should have the freedom to do that. We don't need people freaking out because, "Oh no! They're giving the SJWs what they want!" Who cares?

XIV's dragons are genderless only using gendered terms to describe themselves and others for convenience.
