I agree with OP. SB had good content but the story seemed lacking in many areas. Mainly for me it was because we split our time between Mhigo and Kugane an d because of that we couldn't really connect on either. I did enjoy the Kugane story missions but at the end where they're basically like "Now that we have this wrapped up lets go check in on Lyse" and I no sh*t was like "oh yeah I forgot we were even helping them out". In HW we were always in ishgard or in the surrounding areas doing things directly with the plot (dragon war) even after it was over you still had the what-happens-next part where we rebuild and recreate order withing Ishgard. SB seemed more like we just liberated an entire country and the new leadership was like "Thank you...Next!"

I will admit that the Rauban arc was pretty good....but that instanced fight with Lakshmi in the throne room was just.....ugh

Actually, I'd say that the Stormblood story is ended. It ended with Castrum Fluminis.
What we are going through now is really the early parts of the Shadowbringers story.

It was the same thing with the Heavensward story. It started in patch 2.4 (when we began searching for Lady Iceheart) and ended in patch 3.3 with the Final Steps of Faith. Then the Stormblood story started in patch 3.4 (when we investigate the Griffin)

I feel the complete opposite of OP. (my opinion)
I disliked HW with a passion, I thought it was so boring, and the characters were so bland.
I felt like it was dragging so slow, and I didn't care about any of it.
Dragons are bad, oh wait dragons are good kinda, lets not fight guys, oh wait we have to kill some dragons....and Shiva's whole thing was so terrible and boring.

SB on the other hand, felt more active. We are going to war and we have to win.
Finally fighting the Empire properly, strategy sessions, repercussions of war and imperialism.
Seeing all the scions regroup and move forward.
    I liked it a a lot better.

I think the lines are a bit blurred, because the warriors of darkness were teased at the end of 3.0 and then concluded in 3.4.

Likewise, while the voice calling the scions is a new development, ElidiZenos has been built up through SB's patches and the invasion of Ala Mhigo that's happening now is a natural consequence of 4.0, so it seems a little less clear cut to me.

My main issues with SB stem from the region split. It made both war stories feel rushed. It didn't feel like there was any weight to anything. Sure a couple minor characters died, but that was about it.

I mean the Empire crushes the rebellion at Rhalgr's Reach...but the resistance doesn't have to fall back or abandon it. What. The. Hell? And nothing of interest happens in ala mhigo at all during the DOma part of the story? Nevermind how easy and quick both revolutions felt with no actual quesitoning of the price of war or moral ambiguity involved. I was hyped for SB but ultimately let down.

HW IMO was a way better expansion and ending. SB story for the most part has been very boring and bland. I am hoping SHB will be a much better expansion especially since they are reworking DRK.

But I think that 4.5 part 2 will be very exciting and climactic.

dont know what you expect from a story, but for me all what you quote is kinda deja vu, star wars to speak about the most popular, exact same story. you can even consider ascien as a kind of sith lord. beside all map, music, and text are really poor, compar to hw,
hw is like a journey in a very rich world with many iconic thing, i dont know but antitower, gubal, dravanian countries are quiet original, and bring their own atmosphere, where ala migho is a replica of lawrence d'araby, and othard, it is just copy of china mongolia and japan, so not very interesting,

if you have the hears on ost, check the ost for exemple the last dungeon of the flying continent, befor king thordan fight, and check the ost for the dungeon of doma

one got is own ost with something very epic, the other, is just dumb remix with no inspiration. and it is same for all dungeon of sb, only stupid remix.

you cant tell me this help you to like be there

for me most of the dungeon of sb are very boring, where those of hw, i loved them all

    that mean something.

same for map , story or quest, only few stuff to save as i said.

I think we are going to see Hydaelyn's true colors that's for sure. We know what we are told, and that Hydaelyn imprisoned Zodiark inside the moon. We don't know his side of the story. I believe the voice we are hearing and the one responsible for placing the scions in slumber is indeed Zodiark. I believe we are going to find out his side of the story, and it is going make us question just about everything we currently know about Hydaelyn. She may very well be an usurper.

SB started out great. The WoL's humbling at the Reach was an awesome way to start things off and left me saying, "Whoa!" But along with what others say, the split questline along with Lyse's ineptness deflated SB. I would have rather had the entire resistance focus entirely on Raubahn and Lord Hein. If you switch your perspective to look at it that way, especially towards the end of 4.5, SB immediately becomes better.

SB is not over yet though. Here in a few weeks we will experience its conclusion. Though I have a feeling a lot of our questions being answered is going to lead to even more questions.
