I’m fairly certain Cerberus won’t start “jumping around doing mechanics again” until after the Reawakening cast finishes. Him being fettered again just ensures he doesn’t get 16 stacks of haste and damage up.

But yeah, nowadays it doesnt matter anymore since everyone is way overgeared.

Same with syrcus tower where you can ignore almost every mechanic cause you wont see the later ones, like pulling purple orbs in lightning towers during the skylla fight.


But even in orbanne a lot of people dont even know some mechanics or dont care about them

Yesterday ran with a friend and both tank and 2nd healer are new. So ill explain the mechanics and when i explained the wind mechanics for ultima - where and if the aoes/crystals move - the whole raid was like: „what? You can see where it will move??“

So did orboned for weekly yesterday ( i know bad idea to do it on monday, but i took a few weeks off the game) group was doing fine mechanics wise but the bosses felt like they where taking a century and a half. Was no deaths on cid, but proceeded to wipe to the adds dps check 3 times. Fun times

Noted. But it’s still not necessary to worry about 100% uptime in 24-mans. I’d rather people prioritize getting the mechanics right instead of worrying about pushing out that additional ounce of damage before chains in content that doesn’t even have enrages (though they really should put enrages in 24-mans, but alas, they never will).

we did have one enrage. The first boss of dun scaith (though it was incredibly lenient), but you are right in that we probably will not have more.

I am reminded of one of my first Orbonne runs, first week into the patch. Cid was (as expected) causing issues, and one alliance in particular was wiping to every other mechanic because they didn't understand the in/out signals. Every 5-10 minutes someone would call for a "vote abandon"; finally it's traced to one of the people in the always-dead alliance.

Said individual was a mentor.

Now, I don't usually get in on the mentor-bashing because while I've seen it misused, I also know it's highly subjective. However, when this "mentor" was called out on constantly trying to vote abandon ("just tell your group to kick you and let us teach folks"), they complained that "none of them knew how to do anything."

Us: "You're a mentor. Have you been explaining the mechanics to them?"

Them: "I shouldn't have to! Using the Duty Finder is a guarantee that you already have cleared a fight and understand all of the mechanics!"

Us: ...

I get it. You really should try to understand a fight before you go into it, but especially during the first week of new content, that info is going to be sparse - and as someone taking the mentor crown, you've "supposedly" agreed to help folks who are in need of helping. Their alliance finally kicked them (I suppose they got tired of being constantly bashed for being terrible) and I explained the fight; there was another wipe, I think, maybe two, but they were much smoother and we finally got through.

Some folks, I swear.

Boy don't even get me started with those.

I've specifically become a mentor cuz I wanted to be there and help when the likes of that a**hat didn't

Like what I just read now boggles me....of course you'd find new people on the party finder cuz guess what?THATS HOW THEY QUEUE FOR NEW INSTANCES.

And even then some might've done the fight once and didn't get the hang of it on their first try .

Hell, I've gotten things I've unlocked but never cleared yet using duty roulette. (I'm looking at you Seph!) WTF is this guy on about? HAHAHA

So i qued into Trial Roulette, got The Final Steps of Faith.

First warning bell, the co-tank (A dark knight) refused to tank, being one of those "DPS only tanks"

Okay then, guess i'm pulling and tanking then, even though Paladins at 60 and up are not optimal for pulling, still not that big of a deal by itself.

What happens next though is quite infuriating.

Wipe, deaths everywhere, everyone standing in the bad, ignoring mechanics, spreading out for the Akh Morn stack marker and getting exploded.

Then they wipe a second time in the same way, with the healers being the last ones standing...and failing to use LB3 to save the run even with multiple people shouting at them to do so.

At this point i decide "Nope, not dealing with this, i'm taking the penalty"

Except before i can leave one of the DPS instantly pulls the boss, preventing me from leaving because you cannot abandon duty in combat.

So i'm all "...I'm being held hostage...seriously? Yeah, i'm done, not doing this" and walk away from the computer to do something else in an attempt to calm down from the salt trip i'm in danger of going on.

When i come back a bit later i find that we are still in mid-combat, and it turns into a big argument, with them shouting at me for trying to abandon them and then walking away from the keyboard when prevented from doing so, because not wanting to spend the next hour wiping over and over makes me selfish and immature and how dare i grumble about a hostage situation, they are allowed to keep me in there as long as they want.

Miraculously they do eventually manage to power through thanks to a truly obscene Echo boost and myself joining in again out of desperation to get it over with and to shut them up, but holy hell that was terrible.

I'm probably getting reported over this, so i'm in a good bit of despair right now.

I need a break, i'm getting too salty for my own good.
One too many bad experiences with wipefests on low difficulty content has caused my patience to dry up, i'm not even trying to accomodate incompetence any more, which just makes the situation worse.
After a little over two years it's finally happened, i've snapped and turned into one of THOSE guys.

Joined a 'Kill for Friend, Farm after' Party for Seiryu. Yes, I know, sounds like a trap, but there wasn't anything else. Was surprisingly smooth, one wipe, then we killed it. Though, I was surprised that not only one, but two people got the achievement for the kill. A dog drops, one of those that had their first kill gets the dog, group is disbanded immediately without so much as a goodbye. More fodder for the blacklist. -.-

You could have left between wipes it's not like they can be constantly in combat. I would have waited for the party to wipe then left asap before even ressing myself.
