I think the core of the issue is the undyeable flowers. Fixed colours always affect how easily the item can be co-ordinated with other items, so it badly impacts what would otherwise be a very versatile costume piece - and it's only an issue on the version for the gender that is far more likely to wear it.
If the flowers could all be dyed, there might still be a "huh, the male version is different" reaction, but not the same degree of disappointment over just missing out on a few leaves.

While I am ok with the current crowns, your suggestion here would have been the better design choice for sure. Why they didn't is a bit confounding but I guess we shouldn't be surprised anymore by questionable decisions from SE.

Seems like they ran outta time working on the females' crown!!
Why are you doing it SE? Why not just give both version of this to everyone, thus people could decide which one they find better instead of taking away choice again..
SE was probably thinking, "Well, girls like pink so let's make the pink flowers in their crown un-dyeable." I think they should have went with white flowers in both of them though. You could always make them pink if you wanted to.

Two separate styles seems normal to me. Guys should feel lucky we get anything at all I mean it IS Little Ladies day and the crowns are for princesses.
The Dye on the other hand, yeah seems weird.

I hope this means, someday, we might be able to craft flower crowns out of the flowers we can grow. That would be amazing.

That’s odd... why would they do that?

No wonder they don't know how to enforce rules anymore since one side will cry endlessly no matter what and the other side will try to troll the heck of the other side.

The solution provided with letting people switching it's not a bad one...I mean the main complaint would be for the dye .
