I feel like I should take a break from healing and just be a tank or and DPS or something....

So I was running Sastasha last night on my JP character, leveling up GLA. I like to take even dungeons like that seriously, so I was getting annoyed at the healer that wasn't DPSing, and instead healing me even though I can do the entirety of Sastasha without needing a single Cure.

So I told this guy that it was Sastasha and I didn't need heals. Honestly, I didn't expect him to listen. But he did. He stopped healing me. Even when I got really low on HP, he didn't heal me. And that was fine, since it was ultimately what I wanted.

...except he didn't do anything else to make up for it. Instead of using the time to DPS, he literally just stood there watching us fight. He didn't cast a single Stone or Aero. Just followed us around watching.

I don't know if I offended him by telling him not to heal or what, but I have never seen someone so incompetent at DPSing that they don't even realize it's an option. Maybe he was just angry at me, thinking I told him I didn't need him period or something, and decided to be petty and just do nothing instead.

Either we were in the same raid or its speedrun Rabanastre day because I was healing one and the bosses went down almost as fast as trash. It was beautiful.

Actually I do remember seeing someone named "Red Rider" there so we probably were in the same raid together xD

Also I always shout "PULL THE LEVER KRONK" so that's a sign for you to know if I was there xD

I was late getting my weekly loot from Orbonne last week so I ran that monday (yes, I know).
With that run I had my most bizarre DF encounter to date.

No first-timer bonus, everything seemed to go fine. Until we got to Mustachio.
The MT must have thought he was a spinning top because he kept running circles around the boss. When called out on this there was no reaction. The other two tanks started fighting him for aggro to keep the boss facing one way. It ...wasn't pretty.
Cue the first Analysis/Last Testament. The MTs whole alliance drops dead. They don't accept raises but they start communicating, in french (I guess? Couldn't really understand any of it).
We made it through the fight with 16 people, the dead alliance leaves us with a "bande d'imbéciles" amongst other french(?) I didn't care to run through Google translate and disappears from the raid. All eight of them decided to drop out.

What? I don't even.
I wasn't exactly mad so much as baffled as to what their objective was, some kind of practical joke?

The departure of one alliance caused more people to leave so I had to re-queue for the raid. Got a run with the first-timer message and we just marched through the place without a single wipe. And that's with an alliance apologizing up front for the havoc they were about to cause on Cid, they did perfectly fine.

Before the echo buff, their max hp was just over 400 of my healer's max hp. While they were luckily wearing the 32 Calvary head and hand pieces, they were mostly using disciple of war leather gear for the rest of the left, which made my inner tank cringe.

For tanks in ARR content specifically, it's worthwhile (for their sake and yours) to ask if they have some heavier armour they can manually equip. Tell them to ignore the gear level and just look at the defence stat.

It's entirely possible they were carrying a full Cavalry set or aetherial armour, but the recommendation system "helpfully" upgraded them to some higher-level DoW gear.

People just don't realise that the "gear recommendation" isn't guaranteed to be correct for tanks in ARR content when they can also equip other DoW or DoM gear, because it looks at gear level first and defence second. You need to actually manage your gear and double-check the stats on any recommended upgrades.

I've been in a similar situation in Stone Vigil, and the tank was carrying better gear than what the system had equipped for them - and they had no idea. So they appreciated finding that out, took a minute to find their actual best armour, and the whole thing ran more smoothly after that.

On the other hand, this guy probably wouldn't have benefited much from that information, even if he didn't know it...

On the string on WTF Orbonne runs, I had the misfortune of getting into one with a bard whose gear broke around Agrias...

They were left at 12k HP. Which meant that at every single AOE, they would die. As a healer, I asked how we were even supposed to keep them up, when my AST shields weren't enough and both times we mentioned it, their DRK buddy yelled at us (cohealer and me) 'DUDE I GOT IT'. I still...Have no idea what he meant, considering he maybe used The Blackest Night once to save them.

Anyway, it was straight up painful, considering the AMOUNT of AOEs in those fights, so please, PLEASE repair before coming into a raid like this.

Little bonus horror is a Shinryu run I got into through mentor roulette where we wiped 4 times because the RDM and I were tanking more than the tanks, one of which only had TWO level 70 pieces and they were i300.

o.o This is one of the weirder stories I've heard here. Sounds to me like a troll attempt that failed. If they all left at the same time they probably all queued in as a party to cause mischief. At least you managed to kill the boss despite their efforts.

SE adds noob bonus on recent 24 man raids in later patches, so you won't see that in Orbonne for awhile.
