This sort of reminds me of a Tam-tara I ran a week or two ago with Daughter. We were the DPS that day. We had a new tank and healer, and the healer didn't cast Protect (ironic, considering I'd forgotten to cast it on a recent Halatali run!). I remind her to do so. I recall also mentioning about not needing to medica when only the tank had a small scratch. A few mobs later, I get a response: "hi! we're both new." Yes. Yes, I know you are. It's okay. Just listen to what I'm telling you and please cast Protect. It'll make things a little bit nicer in the run. A few moments later: "it's on the bar so it must be on," she says (or something to that effect). I really wanted to explain it didn't work like that, but in amongst all of this, the tank is just running ahead, and my daughter is trying to help out by sticking with him and the healer's off after them as well. I decide it's not worth it and we'll just do it without and I'll look after my kid above the both of them. Told daughter to keep up her damage, and I'll do the same. This got rocky a few times as the tank's aggro management was that of a new tank not using all the skills, but I'd also told him how to grab and hold aggro, and I think he was trying, sort of. Got through it, but it was the roughest run of that little dungeon I've had for a while, and I know that healer gave herself more work than was necessary.

I felt super bad afterwards. I knew I should've stopped up again and really tried to explain but it's hard when people just run ahead without paying attention. Think I have to do better if that sort of thing happens again.

Also, just did Steps of Faith with the family, and half of the rest of the group is first-timing it too in addition to Daughter. Hubby is tanking, I'm BRD, Daughter is BLM. Hubby asks at the start who wants to take care of dragon killer, cannons.. and gets no response and the rest of the party running for Vishap. Ended up with those aforementioned mechanics being divided up between me and him and we had one healer and I think another DPS that kept checking in on us. Hubby did the two snares by himself, I did some cannon and then dragon killers. We got through, even with our sprouts attacking all the adds and the other tank not bringing them up as cannon fodder. Somehow, they all managed to keep it together up Vishap's backside, but again, I really wished we'd discussed tactics properly for them before things kicked off. I feel like I've let them down somehow, because maybe it'll become problematic for them (and/or others with them) in the future.

Tank cleaving raid during Agrias: check.
3 (!!!) adds during the mini-boss before Thundergod Cid: check.
Someone running through the entire party with Crush Weapon in Thundergod Cid: check.
Tanks getting 5 vuln stacks in TGC: check.

I really, really hate to generalize like this but I find this attitude coming mostly from non-savage raiders. They don't care about being sloppy so long as they clear because there are very little consequences from these mistakes other than time spent on the raid.

If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.

Am I missing something in Cid's add phase? My thought was that each group needed to keep their AOE by them, at the wall, so each party only has one in/out to do. Invariably, however, both (or one) other alliance(s) run at the middle or to another group (us), removing our safe space.

I just can't get anybody else to answer, either, it's always "who cares?"

Things like this, in addition to prior tradition, have led me to dub it "Our Boned Monastery."

If you mean the Hallowed Bolt during the add-phase intermission, the common strategy tends to be to drop the marker under or right beside the boss. I tend to see people run off with it like a chicken with their head off, and then you end up with that tiny sliver of safe space or half of the party eating the Electrocution DoT before the stack.

That phase wasn’t terribly an issue in this run, though, surprisingly. It was the person who got marked with Crush Weapon in our party that ran out, but then immediately ran back in after only one spike thing and caused the party to scatter and eat some of the spike things. The tank got 5 vuln stacks because they were marked with that mechanic the second time, and decided to Living Dead it instead of running away... so they got 4 vulns from that, and 1 more from eating one of his In/Out Sword swing mechanics. I was like ;w;. At least they learned that it gave vulns, because they told me that they actually didn’t know it gave vulns if they used Living Dead (which, LD doesn’t prevent vulns, but I guess they didn’t know that either).

I had another run where my co-healer was AFK. They were doing so little in contribution, that when they got hit by an AOE, they wouldn’t even heal themselves, and then died to the next mechanic while I was trying to heal the party. When I asked them if they were going to help heal (after their 4th death during Agrias because they, once again, did not heal themselves and the party had 3 stacks of vuln because we were sucked into the portal with the ghosts and they weren’t killing them before they hit the flames), I was told to “stop being mean” because “maybe they weren’t feeling well” by one of their friends in the party. They left after we wiped to TGC because we hit enrage during the adds. They died 5 times before that...

Like, if they didn’t want to DPS, I don’t agree with it, but I never say anything about it in content like Orbonne. It’s whatever. I don’t like it, but I’ll bite my tongue. But the fact that they were doing literally nothing—not even healing themselves when they would take damage—told me that they were just not even wanting to contribute. They weren’t new. They weren’t a fresh level 70 AST. I was just like... I don’t understand it. And I don’t understand people that defend one healer doing nothing and forcing the other healer to do all the work.

If you aren’t feeling well, why are you queuing for content? Why aren’t you in bed resting? That’s what I’d be doing.

Unfortunately there are people that will have to learn things the hard way via party kicks or someone screaming at them in chat, or repeated failures by party wiping. No matter how much you explain things to them.

Also I remember doing the cannons and attempting the dragonkillers solo since no one else seemed interested in attempting to control things. It wasn't fun.

    Big Oof ......that's ...ouch.

Killing party with Crush weapon on Thunder God Cid is specifically and aggrivatingly too common nowadays cuz people just don't pay attention to "OBVIOUS AUDIBLE BOSS CALLOUTS"(that and dropping puddles either in the same spot or close to each other so they overlap)

Guess Cid's remark of "Were you expecting more to come of rust?" was on point

That's exactly what i was referring to - I'm glad to know it's just the standard "wow the other alliances suck."

And, yeah. My cohealer is always usually a "carry me" unless they're someone I know/from my FC. They won't even use regens, they just stand there. Sometimes they use stone and aero, but usually they just... run around.

I actually raided with a tank in ARR who would frequently yell at Selli telling her that if she timed her Benedictions better, she could heal through one-shots and save him having to pop cooldowns/move.

We thought he was joking, but no. He was completely serious.
