The new data center for NA and the world visit system is making my head hurt a little bit trying to figure out how it'll work out
I picture it like every player that visits another world will have a time limit whilst they are there and would be kicked if inactive for more than 10mins (akin to Eureka) in order to keep the world that's being visited from being too overly populated at a single time. Of course I could be completely wrong but we'll find out in time.
The new data centres should help to spread the most populated worlds a little more evenly, but definitely queue times are going to take a hit so let's hope we get some nice jobs worth queuing up for!
New NA swap

If they put Crystal on the east cost I will jump ship immediately... even if it means more Balmung madness. That's the only thing I really want (and won't get) out of this... servers for my side of the country.![]()
JFC, SE is just adding another data center, it's gonna be in the same place where the two currently are.
I've kept quiet about all this server changing....until now....and frankly....i hate it...yes this means nothing to the powers that be.....but I just found out that half my friends are planning on leaving because of the redistribution. The other half are staying because we have too much time and effort in our housing which is so limited that it would be pretty much impossible to replace if we moved. Being separated from the more active raid worlds has crushed my friend list. So this is just one more rant/complaint about the redistribution that can be ignored by all, but just had to finally chime in as this is rather depressing. This is supposed to be fun and the redistribution is yanking the fun away from this game......*sad in Coeurl*
I would love to have an oceanic data center.
EU will be getting 2 new servers. One for each DC, when the split happen.
we have new when 5.0 coming
As bad as it is, I only have two words for it: blame Balmung. I'd argue that this is all happening because players on crowded servers like Balmung don't want to leave their servers for various reasons.
But community? The upcoming world transfer system means that you can visit and be part of communities on other servers.
But housing? Players will get reimbursed in full and then some for transferring for any housing plots or apartments they leave behind with. In fact, this would motivate others getting housing since some players might transfer from a high-pop server where getting a house would be next to impossible to a lower-pop server where it's not too hard to get a house.
But static? Yes, some statics may be broken, and while that is certainly unfortunate, but there will always be more raiders and whole statics can be moved to their datacenter of choice without having to worry about things like housing. Furthermore, by the time we get our free transfers in response to (either before or after) the datacenter change-up, there will likely be more statics prepping for the Shadowbringers raid rather than working on Omega.
But, but....something? At least for NA servers, this is only happening because Balmung is not just as bloated as it is, but is filled with so many players that absolutely refuse to leave for one reason or another. What is being done is an attempt to nullify (or at least shrink down) the major excuses players on high-pop servers may have against transferring to lower-pop servers.
As for EU servers, I'm not as sure. The only real theory I have short of increased marketing targeted at the EU is that SE might tighten the limit at which a server becomes classified as "congested" as a means of evening out server populations. This would not only mean that the most populated servers on EU could become listed as "congested", but that more players on NA servers like Balmung would need to transfer before being classified again as "standard", and at that point, players wouldn't have much excuse anymore not to leave.
SERIOUSLY, WHY IS THIS NOT A THING YET? Although I feel like by now, the Aussie playerbase should've banded together and conquered a JP datacenter, or at least a couple of servers on the same datacenter.
