In regards to the "Warrior of Darkness"; how far is too far?

Hm maybe I remember it wrong but wasnt it more like that a flood of light would leave nothing? Like no life, not even something like the void beings. Thus why they thought it was better to have a rejoining, because then at least the souls would be saved and could be reborn on the original world.

This is correct. If you re-watch the patch 4.5 trailer, or remember from some of the recent cutscenes, the first line of dialogue in the trailer was "The light will expunge all life. Only you can forestall the calamity" If we don't fight against the light, it will be far worse than anything we've faced to date as all life on Eorzea will cease to exist.

A good way to think about it is that there are good and bad aspects to both light and dark. It's a very western way of looking at things to think light = good, dark = bad, but when light is too powerful, especially if you relate light to order as many do, then you can end up in systems of tyrannical cultures where people must be a certain thing in society, and where choice and freedom are denied people. Similarly the full on anarchy and chaos that can be related to darkness can be seen as bad, but the positive side is that's the concept that also would have more passion and emotion than light with it's strict order.

It helps me to relate the two to the differences between the philosophies of the colors in Magic the Gathering. Black and white have the facades of evil and holiness respectively, but both colors have good and bad aspects to them.

Unless you're referring to where the WoL and Zenos are fighting... which is Ghimlyt, but is a completely different area from where Urianger and Matoya are.

Also i don't feel like Matoya would refer to Y'shtola as "our friend" - possible, but unlikely. I think it's more probable to be referring to the WoL, as it's the kind of vague way they talk about We-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named in cutscenes, but I'm not really trying to make too much of it for now.

It's confirmed that the fire is in Rak'tika Greatwood. When they were doing the zone flythrough, Koji and Yoshida pointed out the area it happened in.

We already know the calamity that's about to come about, and it has to do with the Black Rose Poison. Solus himself has already implied that the poison's effectiveness would increase in the light.

I think I misunderstood what you meant by "both". I took it as "both Ghimlyt and the burning forest" (the two interpretations of "fire and destruction" I'd made earlier) but now on re-reading with the knowledge that was incorrect, I assume you actually mean "the burning forest and the strangely-lit wasteland"?

Uhh, Order/Tyranny and "expunge all life" are not the same thing. In fact they're antithetical. You can't repress what isn't there. Tyranny of nothing is nothing. Laws cannot be obeyed or enforced when everyone's dead.

I still am gonna hope we're gonna get tasked with ending dystopias because the price of trying to achieve perfection comes at too great a cost! All of the primals are corrupted wishes for things to be better than they are. Even Shiva had shades of this. I seriously don't think that the people of Hydaelyn not being in active agony is gonna suddenly mean everything is perfect and there's nothing more to strive for/dead world. That would be a really weird and awkward storytelling concept.

Does make me wonder what Zodiark's absence has done though, compared to when Hydaelyn and Zodiark were both active.
