Well it's official now! FFXV crossover event on the way!

I very strongly believe this will be an ongoing (permanent) event, but I could be wrong.

I said earlier in the thread that I thought it would be only for a limited time (like the other FF crossover events have been) but thinking about it again this crossover really does seem to be more like the Monster Hunter World one. The FFXIV quest in XV is permanent in that game, just like how Behemoth is now permanent in MHW. It wouldn't make any sense for the XIV side of the crossover to be the only one that's limited.

Q7: FFXIV takes a lot of inspiration from past Final Fantasy games. How important to you is it to pay tribute to the series' history when implementing something relatively familiar like Gunbreaker?

A7: Of course I don't feel that referencing or paying homage to past Final Fantasy titles is important, I have a different approach or different way of thinking about utilizing elements from past Final Fantasy titles. I myself am a very big fan of Final Fantasy; I played the very first Final Fantasy and continue to play, so you can say I’m a very old time fan. But looking at Final Fantasy, especially from Final Fantasy 7 and beyond, with each numbered title there’s a different world setting, different characters, etc, and these are good elements to games like that but at the same time, I think they’re bad elements as well. So with FFXIV especially with the relaunch of A Realm Reborn, I felt that we didn’t have enough fan service to people who enjoy the Final Fantasy series so I try to incorporate as many of those kinds of Final Fantasy elements as I could and make it a sort of theme park of Final Fantasy, so that fans like me (old time fans) as well as more recent fans that got to know Final Fantasy through some of the newer titles can all enjoy and play together. So that’s why I kind of reference the past Final Fantasy titles to pay those homages, and that’s one of the reasons I do that.

Agreed, and the fact that you have to be 50- well, that's not difficult at all, but it's still not the same as 15. And if they're wanting this to lure more XV players into XIV, making it something they have to solidly commit to the game for (instead of just participating on a trial, which you can do for lvl 15 events) would be questionable for a short-term event.

That was very interesting to read and answers A LOT of questions i had.

The mount is kinda neat. Four person is cool. No idea about it's lore never played any FF other than VIII. The 90's are just a blur to me anyway!

How ever I wouldn't worry about there being zones filled with them. My guess is like Rathalos, It will be locked behind and extreme 4 man only Garuda with the death penalty and all that.

I really hope they put in Noctis card in the TT Tournament Rewards finally. There have been no new TT Tournament Rewards through Stormblood, wich is shocking to me.

What's the catch going to be? Current multi-seaters require you to spend money or to get other people to spend money. The only exception is the mentor mount, but that requires 2000 completed runs and it helps with queues. They're going to give out a four-seater and not have a grind that would make you wish it was atma?

The mount is a reward for the event. Do the event and get the mount, maybe with some grind. Even with a grind, it'll be with RNG, so you could get it on first try.

And most of those f2p korean games are great like blade and soul! FF14 just became cooler and more appealing and more fantasy where anything can happen! That is how the world works even in real life; it evolves. Now only if ff14 textures could get up there with f2p korean games...

Hm...oh yeah blade and soul is great if you ignore the bad engine and the big fat pay to win factor.
