Just had two back-to-back runs of Sirensong with crap DPS. The first one was a SAM doing almost no damage, and managed to somehow build 10 stacks on the 2nd boss, and ate the floor twice. He also died in the final boss from not even trying to dodge the blue areas. The 2nd run had a SMN in level 50 gear. You can imagine how that went. Said SMN could barely survive any groupwide damage, and any stacks meant floor tanking. Where's those min ilvls SE?

I had a similar Sirensong run this morning with a SMN in i200. I saw someone with 12k health when we loaded in and when I checked her gear, I put away any thoughts of proposing big pulls (I'm leveling DRK). Granted, from what I could tell, she was doing a proper rotation and all, but even that wasn't making up for being 50+ ilevels below what the place is tuned for. It didn't help that the SAM also had a couple of Gubal pieces left, either. It's a good thing our SCH was on point, because the two forced large pulls (right before the second boss and second part of the room after) took forever to die -- as in, on one of those, I used Rampart at the start and it was back up again before everything was dead (and at one point had no cooldowns available aside from Living Dead).

I also got called a unicorn (in a good way) because I stunned the screams on the last mob before the final boss. Apparently no one does that. -.-

I ran into a Scholar recently who did no damage at all during an expert roulette, and while I normally don't take much issue with that since I do enough damage on my own to cover for it, they refused to use Chain Stratagem even when I asked for it as a Bard, since I need the crit boost for my opener and all.

Their reasoning? They're a healer and chain stratagem is an offensive ability.

I'm still relatively new and all, but I just had the opposite problem. We had double Scholar and the other Scholar refused to heal. Hell they refused to do anything except cast Ruin. They left their fairy on Auto so it just threw out its spells on CD. We had a near wipe because they couldn't be bothered to use a heal and I just couldn't sustain us through. At some point someone tried to vote kick them.

I ended up showered in commendations though.

That one, and the adds on Rofocale, almost noone ever stuns. Last time I was in Rabanastre the other tanks were surprised that you CAN stun those AoEs(which is why I don't care what direction it's pointing when I'm on a class I can easily stun on).

Was helping a friend Sunday get the bow from Shisui of the Violet Tides for glamour. It was me as PLD, my two friends on both AST and BRD. We queue up and get a SMN to fill out the 4th slot. I had told my friend beforehand that us 3 would probably burn through the dungeon faster than them queueing up alone (that, and my Tank insta queue's!) and we would have that bow in no time.

Boy, was I wrong.

Very first pull I take everything all the way to the wall and we all begin burning it down as usual. I am too busy focusing on tanking and typing to notice anything out of the ordinary..that is, until the first boss.

During the fight, I begin to notice seeing the bosses scorpion adds a bit more than I am used to so I am thinking damage is kinda low. BRD friend is still practicing and leveling BRD, so understandable there, but something seems off. I shrug it off and just keep on moving and we finish the boss with very few issues besides going pretty slow.

It isn't until the next pull that I start looking around, thinking maybe my BRD friend isn't AoEing? I check and nope, they are doing fine and songs are constantly up. Then I decide to check the SMN...

Wait, where is the SMN pet? Not one around at all. I then notice there are DoTs on just one mob... one out of the six I have pulled. So no Bane? Aren't you suppose to have Aetherflow stacks too? So I decide to watch the SMN cast bar.

Ruin. RUIN, RUIN!

That's it, nothing else. So I check his gear, and everything is fine, except his weapon.. a ilvl 230 relic. Hyperconductive.. Shouldn't we be in ilvl 270 by now? I didn't think to check if he had any other jobs leveled, but geez.

I asked politely if said SMN was missing pet. No response and no summon. I knew where this was going and proceeded to ask my two teammates through discord if we wanted to boot him, however, both of them really didn't want to bother. I didn't want to be the sour one in the group, so I just let it go and started pulling less.

Run went by pretty slowly, but at least I got to do the entire rest of the dungeon out of Tank stance. I am starting to see what people here are talking about by having a ilvl restriction for dungeons now...

Wasn't all bad though, on our second to last run of the night, we ran into a RDM who was super nice and was doing way more damage than the previous SMN who was looking for gear from the dungeon for glamour too. We invited them to our group through the PF and ran through a couple more times, joking and chatting as we went.

In the end though, no bow OR caster body for our new random friend was looking for... ><

bleugh,that brings memories of a white mage I met on Stone Vigil that will NOT DPS or cast any other supporting spells at all..........they literally stood there for almost the whole dungeon doing absolutely nothing till the tank's HP goes below half or a DPS get hit by an aoe.And when I politely told them to DPS every once in a while they went smug and be like "and you shouldn't get hit by aoes,can't heal and dps at the same time"

Literally throughout the entire instance i only got hit by ONE aoe...same with the DRG that was with us,and they weren't dpsing neither before or after that happened so the smug remark was dumb

...oh you can stun the Rofo adds? At this point I've just gone into all raids thinking "welp stun doesn't work in these on anything ever so might as wel not try". Seems like I should test it more.

On another note, why are so many White Mages so reluctant to use Holy in expert? I've now had 6 or 7 in a row who will only Holy one or two pulls in the entire dungeon, and NEVER before the first boss. And it's not a case of too much healing needed, these same WHMs will be happily casting Stone IV or even spamming Aero III.

This is even a rareone, usually these types of healers are White Mages, not Scholars or Astros.
