    [Suggestion] Remove UI menu threshold

There seems to be a threshold for UI element items.

As someone who has access to:

    All jobs
    All classes
Engages in 90%++ of all content

I have noticed that after a time menu items are not saved.

    From:

***EDIT*** >>>>Fixed list without repeats and added more.***
Actions and Traits menu, Currency menu, Character menu, Armory chest, Inventory, chocobo saddle bag, Companion menu, Chocobo companion "examine" menu, Barding menu, Mount guide, Minion guide, Blue Magic Spell book, PvP profile, PvP Character Menu, Gold Saucer Menu, Card Decks Menu, Achievements menu, Recommendations menu, Journal, Leve Pick up menu, Quest Pick up menu, Quest turn in menu, Duty Finder, Raid finder, Duty Recorder, Hall of novice menu, Timers menu, GC Mission allowance menu, GC turn in menu, GC purchase menu, Custom Delivery Menu, Custom Delivery Client menu, Rowenas Delivery menu, Fashion Report menu, Ehcatl turn in menu, adventure squadron menu, Doman Enclave menu, Masked Carnival menu, Ventures menu, Hunting log menu, Sightseeing log menu, Crafting log, Gathering Log, Fishing Log, Fish Guide, Orchestrion list, Orchestrion Playlist menu, Inn room orchestrion playlist menu, Challenge log, Aether Currents, Mount speed, Map, Teleport menu, Party Member menu, Party Finder menu, Signs menu, Way marks menu, Ready check menu, countdown menu, Emote menu, FC menu, Housing Menu, Outdoor furnishing menu, Outdoor furnishing color, Remodel Menu, Pain Exterior menu, Estate hall menu, Help menu for housing pop up, Guest access menu, Estate tag settings menu, Storeroom status menu, Linkshells menu, Cross world linkshell menu, Contacts menu, Support desk menu, Playguide menu, active help menu, Character config menu, System config menu, User macro menu, Keybind menu, (has reset while typing this...) License menu, (has also reset while making this list) Job gauges, Lord of Verminion Layout, Triple triad board, Challenge match menu, Mini cactpot menu, Jumbo cactpot menu, Out on a Limb *malboro/cactuar/titan speed menu*, Out on a Limb swing menu, Item purchase menu, Triple triad card turn in menu, Cuff a Cur menu, Finer Miner speed menu, (reset while making this post), Finer Miner swing menu, (also reset while making this post), LoV Ranking board (reset making post) , Triple Triad Tournament ranking board, Moogles Paw menu, Monster toss menu, Crystal tower striker menu, Residential District Aethernet ward menu, Apartment menu, 2.0 hunts both weekly and daily, 3.0 hunts both weekly and daily, 4.0 hunts both weekly and daily, Squadron menu, Individual Squadron profile menu, Slide I-XIV mini game menu, Parley menu, Concentration menu, Cheap Dungeon menu, Egg Hunter Riggy menu, Glamour Dressor menu, Glamour plates menu, Armoire Remove item menu, Armoire store item menu, Retainer Sell item menu, Retainer Sale history menu, Retainer Class/atributes/gear menu, Retainer Venture menu, Anima glass menu, Ulans note menu, Unending Journey Menu, (reset while making this list), Doman Enclave donation menu, Wondrous tails menu, Skywatcher menu, Market board menu, Fisher Bait and Tackle Menu (reset while making list), Fisher Gig head menu (reset while making list), FC chest menu, company credits purchase actions menu (reset while making list), FC purchase items menu,

The list goes on and on.... The point made here is that if you set all of these to a desired location they will save... up to some unknown limit, then once that limit is met, the items used less will then default to their original location. This includes Lord of Verminion layouts, job gauges, so on so forth. Basically the more you play the game, then return to something else, the menu or layout will reset. I've had job gauges reset to default locations as well as the Lord of Verminion layout which these two are most irritating.

Any menu resetting is irritating but those are the worst.

    ______________________________________________

My [Suggestion] is that all UI menus/elements be tied to the HUD Layout screen such as for "menus" or "Specialty" this way the threshold can remain and only be for a small number of items such as the job gauge or LoV layout.

That or remove the limit for UI elements, as they are saved PC side anyway.

    Thank you.

I think it's very rare that people would move some of those things. Why would you need to move things like the Duty Finder window that are only open while you're actively using it? Or things like the Aether Current and Mount Speed menus that you only consult rarely and briefly?

It wouldn't even occur to me to relocate a lot of those things.

(Also you've repeated several of your examples.)

Because everything is directly in the middle of the screen, and I dont like things there? Why not put everything in the middle of the screen so you cant see anything? Because its clutter...

I'll make a fresh new list just for you! I'll include every movable menu and I'll try my best not to repeat a single one, just for you!

    >>>The reason for posting is I have had my job gauges reset locations 2 times over now, as well as had Lord of Verminion layout completely reset 3-5 times as well...<<<

These types of things are disruptions to the experience. As this is saved client side, there should be no reason for there to be a threshold. Thankyou.

If this is legit, then your concerns are better placed in a bug report. General Discussion is not going to help you.

"Thank you for the reply Daniolaut.

I'll pass that request along, but I'd suggest posting it in the General Discussion forum as well. That is a good place to leave feedback and suggestions: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/f...ral-Discussion

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.!"
Why would I waste my time posting a false statement. "if this is legit" .... lol what?

My "if this is legit" comment is more directed at the fact that your post provides no actual evidence other than "it happened to me because I say it did". No screenshots; nothing. I certainly wouldn't waste my time trying to replicate it based on the information in your original post. If it is a bug, then the developers will want steps to reproduce the problem. "Move a bunch of shit around" is vague, at best.

If you really want the problem fixed, then come up with a list of repeatable steps that exhibit the problem (by steps I mean "I moved the currency menu to the top left. I closed the current menu. I moved the character info menu to the top right. I closed that menu." etc.). If you can't be bothered to do that, then don't expect the devs to bother fixing it. As a developer myself, I would throw this report right in the trash, perhaps while shouting "We have 200 different menus! This one player out of thousands is complaining about something without a series of steps to replicate? I'm not wasting my time with this garbage! Bug rejected!" Does it lose the position of the 1st thing you moved after moving 50 other menus? Does it only lose position of things after you log out and back in? Are you logging out/in on different systems? Are you utilizing the server UI saving system? Why is this guy lumping job gauges, which should have their own dedicated UI element storage, in with menus that don't, like currency and such?

Also, the advice from a GM to post here was... uh... an interesting choice on their behalf.

So you're claiming to know more than the dev now? Also "move a bunch of stuff around" is ****Literally***** how you replicate this issue.............

but, for your sake, even though this isnt a bug, its a design flaw.... here you go!

    Date of issue: Reoccuraing
    Time of issue: Reoccuraing
    Frequency: Reoccuraing
    World name: All worlds
    Character name: Daniolaut Leonheart
    Retainer name: N/A
NPC name: All menu related NPC's such as OIC Quatermaster
    Monster name: N/A
    Class/Level: All Classes all jobs
Party or solo: Both Party and Solo
In-game time: All in game times
Area and coordinates: Inn Room, FC menu, GC headquarters, everywhere
    Housing: All housing menus
    Steps:
    1. Open Duty Finder, (or "X" UI element)
    2. Select Lord of Verminion
    3. Move LoV layout options (or other Menu element from "X" list)
    4. Log out (to ensure everything saves)
    5. Log in
    6. Open HUD Layout as Monk
    7. Move Greased Lightning HUD element
    8. Save settings
    9. Log out so items save
    10. Repeat steps 1 and 3 for below "X" UI element list of items subject to "Saved location threshold"

    Further info:
be it logging out or not, no other factors come into play outside of the fact, of opening a User Interface menu from list below, and moving it to a desired location, that after a unknown "Y" number of times the UI elements used less often will then reset to the default location......

X User Interface element/menu/layout list of items subject to mentioned problem:
Actions and Traits menu, Currency menu, Character menu, Armory chest, Inventory, chocobo saddle bag, Companion menu, Chocobo companion "examine" menu, Barding menu, Mount guide, Minion guide, Blue Magic Spell book, PvP profile, PvP Character Menu, Gold Saucer Menu, Card Decks Menu, Achievements menu, Recommendations menu, Journal, Leve Pick up menu, Quest Pick up menu, Quest turn in menu, Duty Finder, Raid finder, Duty Recorder, Hall of novice menu, Timers menu, GC Mission allowance menu, GC turn in menu, GC purchase menu, Custom Delivery Menu, Custom Delivery Client menu, Rowenas Delivery menu, Fashion Report menu, Ehcatl turn in menu, adventure squadron menu, Doman Enclave menu, Masked Carnival menu, Ventures menu, Hunting log menu, Sightseeing log menu, Crafting log, Gathering Log, Fishing Log, Fish Guide, Orchestrion list, Orchestrion Playlist menu, Inn room orchestrion playlist menu, Challenge log, Aether Currents, Mount speed, Map, Teleport menu, Party Member menu, Party Finder menu, Signs menu, Way marks menu, Ready check menu, countdown menu, Emote menu, FC menu, Housing Menu, Outdoor furnishing menu, Outdoor furnishing color, Remodel Menu, Pain Exterior menu, Estate hall menu, Help menu for housing pop up, Guest access menu, Estate tag settings menu, Storeroom status menu, Linkshells menu, Cross world linkshell menu, Contacts menu, Support desk menu, Playguide menu, active help menu, Character config menu, System config menu, User macro menu, Keybind menu, (has reset while typing this...) License menu, (has also reset while making this list) Job gauges, Lord of Verminion Layout, Triple triad board, Challenge match menu, Mini cactpot menu, Jumbo cactpot menu, Out on a Limb *malboro/cactuar/titan speed menu*, Out on a Limb swing menu, Item purchase menu, Triple triad card turn in menu, Cuff a Cur menu, Finer Miner speed menu, (reset while making this post), Finer Miner swing menu, (also reset while making this post), LoV Ranking board (reset making post) , Triple Triad Tournament ranking board, Moogles Paw menu, Monster toss menu, Crystal tower striker menu, Residential District Aethernet ward menu, Apartment menu, 2.0 hunts both weekly and daily, 3.0 hunts both weekly and daily, 4.0 hunts both weekly and daily, Squadron menu, Individual Squadron profile menu, Slide I-XIV mini game menu, Parley menu, Concentration menu, Cheap Dungeon menu, Egg Hunter Riggy menu, Glamour Dressor menu, Glamour plates menu, Armoire Remove item menu, Armoire store item menu, Retainer Sell item menu, Retainer Sale history menu, Retainer Class/atributes/gear menu, Retainer Venture menu, Anima glass menu, Ulans note menu, Unending Journey Menu, (reset while making this list), Doman Enclave donation menu, Wondrous tails menu, Skywatcher menu, Market board menu, Fisher Bait and Tackle Menu (reset while making list), Fisher Gig head menu (reset while making list), FC chest menu, company credits purchase actions menu (reset while making list), FC purchase items menu,

Based on the OP's description and the comment from the forum moderator, it doesn't sound like a bug, but rather a design choice that is frustrating the OP because he likes to customize his UI layout. If there is some sort of UI threshold, SE doesn't need it reproduced, they put it there. So Daniolaut isn't trying to alert them to a bug, but rather request a change in design. In which case, there's no need to try to reproduce it.

A screenshot of a UI element moving back to its default position would just be a screenshot of the default UI...? I don't think that would be useful.

Thank you. Sometimes people need things restated so they are conveyed in a more sensible fashion.

    EDIT:

Now that I think on this more, the reason for this choice might be due to Playstation and how it saves data. Dare I say "PS3/PS4 Limitations" ?

(PS3 was said here because this game once supported PS3, and I'm quite certain when this element of the game was designed, PS3 was due in part of the choice thereof.)
