I mean, we kinda expected the city proper, like all the main city states. We are inside Ala Mhigo, the problem is, is terribly underwhelming, barely a corner in a map. Is like 1/6 of all other cities, while due to imperial occupation, it should be a hella bigger. Yes i know, the dungeon, that one instance, sorry to fragmented to see it proper.
Othard was a mistake. Kugane should be our city in 5.0, Shadowbringers should be 6.0 and in a turn of events, 7.0 should be either new world or meracydia, hydaelyn is amazing enough, stop it with the dimensional stuff. Stormblood was a narrative mess, headed everywhere and achieved nothing. The city we expected the most to visit, we never got, and all brand new areas are basically irrelevant at this point in the main scenario, othard became a literal dead end... It's like a bad anime deteour to justify a few filler episodes, is what all of stormblood feels like save when we approached the end, since it basically just finally reconnected with the main storyline. We barely even see any "warfare" which is kinda what we expected, i didn't ever felt anything remotely close to be part or lead a "revolution". The maps were all boring, the FATEs are all unrelated to anything important going on a proper frontline (what all of Ala Mhigan regions should have been). The theming of all of Stormblood maps was so awfully bad, only the steppes were good and is because it's is own thing entirely, let alone what they made of the Burn.
About the main topic, Isn't Dalmasca near Nanxia, the clouded part of the Othard continent? Is probably the main "landway" between Othard and Garlemald, that we could travel without getting too deep into the mountains north of the steppes where i think life becomes pretty much impossible and traversing it is kinda suicide, the burn which we know is to some degree "explorable" and the many jungles of the western end of Othard are the only way. So maybe the next raid will expand it's reach north of it? Again, this is all a whole mess because we got Othard. Seriously, we sould have gotten only Ala Mhigo, with better themed and diverse regions. The Ivalician raid had massive implications for the main scenario, specially towards it's end, a whole legion is working there and the dalmascans seem to be organizing to try again to remove the empire, so we either participate of that or recive a very bad notice about their fates during 5.0
Again, all this because Othard was a mistake.
We could have gotten the ivalician raid as part of Ala Mhigo, kinda like the land route, while pushing the garleans back to rejoin the landways. We even got in a boat to reach Othard and skipped the most important city in the whole thing, Thavnair.
Seriously, we are just skipping so much stuff as we move on, feels so unconnected and kinda random. You don't abandon fronts to go open new ones.... And then close that to never use it again. As Ishgard, half the expansion will be left abandoned in a time bubble.
Raids, dungeons, damn, the game could use even mid expansion map additions. Every patch should add a new region to explore. We still have so much in Eorzea to properly explore.
