Bump for same English voice actor for Fran as in FFXII !

I seriously doubt that any voicework for 5.0 has even begun.

In an interview one of the lead devs of the lore team said that voicework was done "fairly early in the development process". Since the expansion is out in just a couple of months, I think it's safe to assume that it's far too late to make any changes to 5.0. You'd probably get lucky to have them change something as far off as the first major patch.

She may very well have already been contacted though (or even finished all her voice lines for 5.0). Her answer, if you brought the essence of it properly, is what one would consider a "non-answer". Basically it doesn't say anything at all other than her not being personally opposed to it (or at least, not wanting to be open about it).

She would surely be under non-disclosure agreement in that case though. If for no other reason than because Fran getting voiced lines guarantees her coming back after the raid is over which was not officially released yet.

I kind of doubt Fran will become a major character. But they will most likely introduce a Viera major character in 5.0, or maybe 4.55, due to the introduction of the new player race.


Fran was mostly there for a cameo, unless they make an even bigger crossover with FF 12 as a whole than just the Ivalice raids. They did make a reference to Ashe though...

No point in creating another 'signature' Viera when they have one as popular as Fran already, and all the storyline she was involved in meshes well with what is going on in the MSQ. At this point, nothing lost and much to possibly be gained by promoting they voice her with the original actress.

I disagree with this. I love Fran and she is one of my favorite FF characters, but if Viera are coming to Hydaelyn, we need more than a key character from another set of games, that are not written by the same writers. Don't forget, Matsuno-san was specially commissioned to do Return to Ivalice, so the lore team is working very closely with him to make sure the characters are right. I'm thinking if we get the liberation of Dalmasca that was hinted at, it will be the next 24 man OR 8 man raid.

Unless Matsuno becomes a core part of the team, and they take stuff much further, I do think we need our own characters, that our writers can flesh out on their own.

And also, if the area that has been revealed from the Fanfest is any indicator, Rak'Tika Greatwood is where we'll be seeing the most viera I'm willing to bet, and that is not the same area that Fran is from.

If Fran is to be voice acted I would love for her original VA to make a return! Same with the rest of the XII cast if any of them show up cause I'm still hopeful for Balthier since Matsuno-san said he didn't say he wouldn't appear, and I think that means we have a lot more to look forward to with other characters.

While Fran is popular and all, the thing is she's from FF 12. None of the other main characters for 14 have been from other games but have been original characters, I don't see why they would start with her.

The closest we have is Hien being Cyan's son...


They could always bring in the voice actress for the role, but it's more likely going to be a new character rather than Fran, simply to keep the main story of 14 a separate thing and not tied to other games.

Actually I'd say Krile is probably an exception here. Originally the character is from FFV but has been adapted to fit in to XIV and it's lore, so this one wasn't a completely unique creation.

I forgot about Krile, but she is quite different from 5's Krile, the only real relation is her name and Galuf's name...

Maybe a third of Othard's map is Ivalice, Gabranth was introduced, and Fran was involved as a general under Ashe. There are a ton of dangling plot threads after the raids(especially one likely to tie into the flood of Light through Ultima and her seraphs), and considering the zones we know of for 5.0, the revolution in Dalmasca could easily be part of the main plot.
