Minfilia or Lyse?

I'm not sure I agree with the arguments that Minfilia had a personality, really. All I remember about her personality is the "You're our champion, yay! Go splendidly do that job that anyone else can do! *smiley*" and "I'm not as good as Louisoix, but I try my best to follow him in his footsteps *sad face*". Seriously, if not for me being a sucker for pretty women, I'd actually wish her dead rather than just taken to another world by a god-like entity. In fact, when she was possessed by Hydealyn, I was irked that such an insufferably stupid character (I know it was the writers fault, not hers, but that doesn't change things) was somehow "special" among all the people in the world.

Lyse didn't stand out in any particular way, but that also means that she didn't screw up anything nor irked me in particular. And she at least didn't run from the front line but actively participated in it whenever and wherever possible. She did put her life on the line for what she believed in. Minfilia did not. Louisoix that she chased after was fighting a friggin Bahamut, but she couldn't even fetch some common items because leaving her room was too scary...

But yes, since she looked nice I hope she'll be brought back...AS A GOOD CHARACTER. Let's say that seeing how the world outside her little shelter looks like she grew up and realized how entitled she acted like...

I prefer Minfilia honestly... She could had a better development, but it was fine, especially her finale. I hope we get more of her in the future.

Now Lyse... IF the Lyse we know in Stormblood was a brand new character, I'd like her much more, because it felt really awkward that Yda was just what it was. It had a major retcon feel because it really (at least to me) looked like Lyse was something thought in the last minute...

Definitely not Minfillia.

The unbelievably bad english voice actor and about 100 "report to the Waking Sands" quests absolutely killed it for me. I can't stand her now. Also, even if she does "do a lot of work behind the scenes", you just don't see it in the MSQ, she's portrayed as the ineffectual character who can't fight and doubts herself a lot. As WoL all you see is that she pulls you in and basically gets you to carry the Scions single-handedly. Let's face it, they can't fight Primals due to tempering, Ifrit would have them stumped right off the bat, nevermind the countless more you defeat.

Lyse I was ok with, she didn't stand out exceptionally well and her rise to leadership was a bit cliche and some of it didn't make sense, but I enjoyed the MSQ overall.

If the choice is between actively terrible and passively terrible, I'll pick passively terrible. Lyse may be incredibly boring, but she hasn't outright ruined story sections for me like Minfilia has. Also, at least Lyse had a couple of fun moments when she was Yda.

Having to put up with her over several alts has only given me a hatred for her shared with no other NPC in this game (save maybe Asahi).

Asahi is great. Crazy and creepy, but great. No other character in the game has ever actually bent down to get right up in my face like that before.

You mean like the ending of the expansion storyline and probably one of the most pivotal moments in the relationship between the protagonist and antagonist?

1.0 Minfilia, before the Calamity expanded her bust size in direct relation to a reduction in intelligence ("What do you mean Minfilia that we can't use the Echo whenever we want? You yourself taught me how to do just that five years ago!!"). And when she had mundane but tasteful fashion sense, not that... thing she wore in ARR that was designed specifically to flaunt her chest and rear... *rolls eyes*

And I don't hate Lyse in more that I thought it was a cop-out revealing Yda as long dead and that Lyse was masquerading as her, it virtually invalidated everything that she did even back in 1.0. It just came across as SE simply weren't sure what to do with her and Papalymo anymore. Which is a shame as they were the first characters in FFXIV I ever met (as they appeared right at the start of the 1.0 Gridania story) and so I felt more closer to them than any other npc in the game.
