I don't disagree with that sentiment. However, I'm just speculating since I don't think Male Viera actually exist to my knowledge and I don't remember seeing Female Ronso in FFX either. But it's been a while since I played.
Well, female Ronso exist in FFX, when you visit their village, but the main Ronso characters are all male. As for Viera, if I remember correctly, males exist, it's just that they are solitary while female Viera live in matriarchal societies (I'm not sure if they say this in FFXII).
I'd love to get both races in 5.0, but think I prefer having just one for now without it being gender locked.
That leaker guy who predicted BLU and Viera said Ronso were supposed to be part of 5.0 along with Viera if I remember correctly. If that still holds true(since literally everything he said has come to pass thus far) i'm wondering if its going to be something like Ronso are males only and Viera are only female.Definitely agree there would be a lot of negative feedback if they gender locked them, but imo I'd prefer gender locked over no diffrent race. Because I believe it would be easier to convince them to unlock a race at a later date than it would be to introduce an entirely new race at a later date (especially as it seems they're selling this race as the last new race, of course that can change in time). Although obviously most optimally we get both unlocked lol.Well, female Ronso exist in FFX, when you visit their village, but the main Ronso characters are all male. I'm also wondering if that leak we've had rumblings about perhaps just saw male Viera and was like "oh, that's a Ronso!" perhaps due to an extra helping of dimorphism.
Hmm, that's true. I guess that would be a better alternative.Definitely agree there would be a lot of negative feedback if they gender locked them, but imo I'd prefer gender locked over no diffrent race. Still, I honestly don't believe we are getting two races now, as much as I would've liked it. I think the leak thing might've been indeed some mistake. Unless the Ronso appear in 5.0... but as an NPC race like the Lupin.
Another new race will happen eventually if SE's CEO becomes disgruntled with sales. Races are a HUGE incentive for mmo expansions. I won't be surprised if Shadowbringers sells more than Stormblood.
It is plauseable that we will see some area like that in the future. We've had pirates,Ninjas and samurai and i assume at some stage in the game we will get the token viking area with a viking class and ronsos could tie in with that area.If we were to keep in lore of the Ronso from 10, they would need to come from a mountain wilderness of colder climate akin to Mt Gagazet.
I won't claim that I know the world of 14 especially well but I do know Coerthas was not originally a winter wonderland. I think it has been said somewhere that the Empire home of operations is in a region that could potentially fit that environment for the Ronso. So I suppose that potentially they could be a beast tribe in that region.
Well, keep in mind that Ronso wasn't the leaked race. Blufever, the leaker, only said that the second race was lion-based which made people speculate that it could be Ronso. There is another lion race in Final fantasy 12 called the Rev too. I can't find the specific point in where he mentions to look at his profile, but I hope it is obvious enough due to the fact it has both a lion and bunny on it.

I personally have come to the acceptance stage on the races in this game; however, I can't say I'm not super disappointed. I was so damn salty, pouring the salt, after they said Viera would be the last race. xD
You mentioned the Burmecians in the original post.... I was very saddened when I learned that Yugiri wasn't this when they were teasing her back in 2.x. I saw her with her covered face and tail and though that perhaps she felt she had to hide her appearance because of the Qiqirin. I personally say the more options the better, so I'm all for ronso if enough other people want it too. I just would like to see them also make the Burmecians as that's something I still feel should have already been in the game.
(Also, the lore for adding them was so perfect at the time considering they were refugees of a destroyed city... just like Burmecia and Cleyra were both destroyed in FFIX)
I'd love to see a beast race, but all the game's lore and design philosophies make them seem unlikely. Even then, I don't think Ronso would be a playable race. They're a mashup of two races that fill a niche those two already do better. Hell, just slap a horn and a tail on a Hellsguard and you're already halfway there.
I'd be amazed if this is the new race. They appeal to absolutely nobody.
I lol'd to the response about the rev XD.. refrence for those wondering:I'd love to see a beast race, but all the game's lore and design philosophies make them seem unlikely. On FFXII, although the Au Ra take some elements already, the Garif are kind of neat:
