The usual 'i pay a sub fee so should be entitled to everything i want ' Thread.
Seriously its not affecting the game in any way these optional items.
Get over it and stop throwing so much hate towards SE and players with the spare money just because you cant afford it.
The game needs this optional services to keep it supported as a lot of players dont keep their subs constantly renewed. It means that SE cant forecast their monthly or yearly income for the game.Optional services make up for this and are more responsible for keeping the game running than you think.

Also we get events every year with free items and they constantly add new mounts, glamors, emotes, minions, orchestrations in game that are easy enough to obtain. Some are harder to obtain in game as they were designed to be rare.

The only thing i dont like was that they added the story skip and level boost items. But i can understand why they were added.(They are actually used more by raid groups focused players than casuals)

Fortnite is making a killing off dancing emotes. Why can't SE enjoy the profit fun?

I would be less upset if everything was account wide, such as emotes.

Made a character on EU servers and now I can't play dead anymore, and I ain't about to pay for it again.

That's down to personal taste, I guess!

I assume you're talking about unique characters like the Scions and other major supporting characters.

I like the costumes I put together for my own characters more than what they wear - and the few times I've tried on their costumes via other players wearing them, I've thought they look okay but not that great. (Though I've thought that about a lot of in-game equipment too! Because of course there needs to be equipment that appeals to different people, not all just what one person will like.)

I guess it's the difference between having a fully designed character, and our customisable ones who may or may not look good wearing a costume designed for someone else? And the sometimes-tricky business of finding what sort of costumes look good on your own character.

FF14's microtransactions have always been a peeve for me with the game.

I mean, I enjoy ff14 and I strongly disagree with the whole attacking other players for buying these items, they're fully entitled to buy what they like. I'd be willing to buy the occasional item to show support for a game I like. But I dislike that they stuff so many things in there, on top of a sub and on top of additional retainer fees. It's unnecessary.

Currently if you open the mogstation, there are 420 items in there in total. We might be looking at 500 by Shadowbringers and 1000 in a few years. I came from WoW where the total items in the cash shop haven't reached 100 in 14 years, my bank space and alts are free and I can buy everything with ingame gold. FF14's a better game than WoW, but the cash shop isn't a positive feature.

I get that they're a business, but you can over-do it. It's the game itself that draws customers in, not microtransactions. A lot of games are doing badly financially lately due to the misconception that microtransactions are the future. If you lose focus on the main product, you have less customers to buy all those fancy fluff items. Making the game as appealing as possible should always be the main priority if they want profit and ff14 could do with plenty more polish.

Most of said items are seasonal items, which many people will never have to buy, dyes (which are all obtainable in game), and koran/china outfits which were paid in their countries of origin as well.

There are a relatively tiny amount of actual mogstation exclusive items.

I'm of the opinion that only past seasonal event items, special promotion items and expired code items such as the Yuna minion should be on the mog station.

SE: "Here's some fun optional items and emotes that we paid real people to actually design/animate/etc at a cost."

People: "GAWSH! HOW DARE YOU SE. JUST HOW. DARE. YOU! Think you can change us MONEY FOR THESE THINGS!? What do we look like? Your pay pigs!? How dare you try and charge us money for this garbage! I mean, we totally want it but since we have to pay for it a price we dont agree with, were gonna call it garbage. But how dare you and your insolence that you think you can charge us for optional things that we feel should be priced in a manner we set. Gawsh! SE is the worst!"

Seriously? What the heck is wrong with a lot of you. Youre not 'bound' to buy anything on mogstation. Its all optional. It's all for fun. They set the price for what they think its worth. You can choose to pay it or not. Thats your right as a consumer, particularly since none of this is P2W. If you dont like the cost, dont buy it. Theres lots of things I like but are expensive and choose not to buy. SE isnt being 'greedy' or any such nonsense in this case. Hell, every year they have multiple events which award you cosmetics or emotes or what-have-you for 'free' so long as you play the event. Thats stuff they could charge you with but dont. And people still have the nerve to say its all about greed and how terrible SE is.

If its price is to expensive, dont buy it. All of us do this on a daily basis in supermarkets and online sales and what not. What makes this any different. Just cause you really really want it but how dare SE charge for it? Come on.

I don't have a problem with the existence of the Mogstation or the items in it. I really don't. What I have an issue with is SE's focus on the cash shop while letting the game stagnate at times. The money doesn't appear to go back into the game as much as it should. I just feel that this game deserves better for being the one that pulled SE out of the red.

I don't get what you mean by "SE's focus".

You mean the two stupid (imo) dances? The occasional outfit release? a new mount? Seem to be disregarding the numerous free emotes, mounts, housing items, and outfits we get every single content patch. There is no focus on the mogstation.
