Gunblade job must be a DPS.

In every FF game gunblade jobs looks pretty different from each other, look at squall and lightning both use gunblades but they combat style is complete different, squall use more heavy swings and heavy fireshots and lightning is more matrix style and fire his weapon like she is using a handgun compared to squall, they only share the gunblade, in this game they are represent more squall archetype and wear heavy armour all around.

And no, is not about quetimes, is about expanding the tank and healing choices like DD since tanks and healers mains are human beings that deserve have they fun expanded too.

To be fair Squall and Lightning used two different style of gunblades. Squalls fired a blank that made the blade vibrate at a high frequency so that it's slice would cut sharper. Lightnings had two modes that it changed between. It had a sword mode that you used mostly in combat, and a gun mode that you saw during cutscenes and at the end of a attack combo. The weapon literally transformed. It didn't fire while in sword mode and it didn't have a blade in gun mode. Garleans are seen shooting their gunblades at range and being able to use them in melee.

Gaius is seen dashing around the arena in your fight with him and has a X cut attack kinda like Samurai's 50 kenki attack. In the rp mode where you play Alphan... Alphy... (I can't spell) Shadowhunter uses what looks like a limit break 3 version of the Giaus attack. So while the troops wear heavy armor, which any army would have their infantry in protective armor, it could be a DPS. Or it could be a tank.

Even if it is a tank tho that wont create but so many tank mains. FF8, Squall, and the Gunblade are some of my favorite FF elements... but I wouldn't main a tank just to have a job with a gunblade. However I would main a job with a gunblade if it was a DPS. I expect most DPS mains to feel the same way while a small number of people may switch their main to a tank. So que times would probably remain mostly the same since the same number of tanks would still be queuing into DF. It would give tank mains something new to play from level 50 or 60 to level 80 and then something to switch between when they get bored of the other 3 tanks.

But who knows till the next fan fest. The leaks say it's a tank and they have been right so far. Me personally I'm hoping for a DPS cause I loved how Squall plays in Dissidia. (Not NT tho, I hate the 3v3 bull crap...) But if it IS a tank, then I'm happy for you tank mains

Yeah that was mostly my point, the few representations of gunblades where pretty different form each other in games where the combat system don't allow roles per se, ffxiii have roles in some degree but lighting is not a usual gunblade user either.
As for Gaius attack that means something or nothing at the same time like y'sthola how use a unique DD LB attack despite being obviously a WHM and the dash attacks are pretty similar to osnlaught.

At the same time there is many tank mains that will insta switch to gunblade if become a tank and probably don't play it if they make it DPS and will probably make some ppl get in to the role bcs the actual tanks are not appealing for them, everything is relative in the end, I want it as a tank and make it my switch tank to pair with DRK as I need and use it a lot and many DD mains will level it up but then abandon the job when the hype is gone and back to his old mains if the gameplay is not appealing for then or they like they old mains more, so in my opinion nobody deserve the gunblade job more that others but looking at the current roster we can't have another DD melee since tanks, and ranged DD need more fresh blood.
