I hope it a tank. this game could use more tank choices, though yes haveing it be a dps would be fun but this game as a whole need more tank choices.
Shadowbringer should include a tank and healer job only. DPS players can suffer like healers and tanks did over the past two years.
No we beed to get a tank and healer first be it gunblade or what ever. Or we need 3 more dps?hell blue is a dps.
We be in luck to get more thst 1 job this time after they add the blue thingy.
I say Tanks and Healers will be the ones suffering because they can't stand queue times longer than 5 seconds since there will be lower DPS players during 5.0 release time to fill in those DPS slots.
Have you forgotten the 3.0 incident when Tanks and Healers complained that they had to wait 10 minutes or longer to get into queue because there was not enough DPS players?!!! (and some of them thought it was a bug)

I say this as a Tank main who plays each in nearly equal measure, we need a new Tank class in Shadowbringers, as well as a new healer.
However, I despise Magitech classes, something about them just grates on me. I have had every job at 70 since 4.2 and I still haven't done the MCH level 70 quest because I hate the job and my level of interest is far below 0. So I'm with you, I hope its a DPS class and we end up getting three jobs.
As a DPS (RDM with a side of BRD) main who has had a lot of trouble getting into tanking and who thinks a Gunblade job sounds pretty cool, let me just say... it absolutely should be a tank. For the same reason that it's good that DRK is a tank. For EVERY iconic FF job, there are going to be people who main each of the 3 roles that are saying "oh I love this class in (past FF game), I hope it's my role when it comes to XIV!" You can't please all of those people, obviously, since each new job is going to be part of only one role. So with that in mind, you have to make sure each role gets some of the jobs that are really iconic/interesting/flashy/etc.
This, of course, assumes that we only get 2 jobs at 5.0 launch - Gunblade and one other, in which case it should be Gunblade tank and (whatever) healer. There shouldn't be another DPS job this expansion at all unless there are going to be 3 total. If there WERE to be a 3rd job, then I'd be fine with Gunblade being a DPS and something else being the tank. But whatever they do, it's pretty important that 5.0 launch with a new healer and new tank, is my point here (a point that others have already made, as well).
I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've seen anyone be anywhere NEAR this concerned about the weapon damage type of a new class.
Even more so, I'm absolutely certain this is the first time I've seen anyone even bring up the number of slashing vs. other damage types in the game (damage type balance, I guess you'd call it??), let alone lament that there are too many of one type or too few of another.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the very strong "hey THINK IT THROUGH PEOPLE, do we really need ANOTHER slashing type?? Of course not!" tone your posts have had may be unwarranted.
